JFF- Your Kid Gets Their Hands on the Tv Remote And...

... turns on which channel?

Are your kids old enough to know what the cartoon channels are? Or do they punch numbers at random like my 2 year old?

Because every time my son grabs the remote, he either puts on TeleMundo or sports. Every. Freaking. Time.

My girls know the ins and outs of the cartoons channels and On Demand... how, is beyond me, we're not big t.v. watchers at all!

So what do your kids manage to change the channel to? Ever had anything randomly recorded? I've seen my DVR filled with random stuff from the 2 year old, accidentally... because I want to watch The 700 Club... every episode... ;)

What can I do next?

Oh for my boys it's 301. And then they go up and down a few :). That's Nick Jr. and the other channels get the Power Rangers and Avatar. They know.

My daughter is big on a lot of the shows I like...so Say Yes to the Dress, Dancing with the Stars, and others. She KIND of likes iCarly and Victorious...so she might flip those on sometimes.

Mine weren't able to count to 55, but they knew 5 - 5 got them cartoon network and 5 -4 got them "the spongebob channel".

They won't pick up their toys but I'm pretty sure they could program the DVR as well as the directory on my phone.

When the 7 y/o gets it she turns on Nick, or CN, when the 3 year old gets it, he shoves it in my face and tells me to change the channel, or he picks the rubber backing off of it. Looks like a dog chewed it up. When the baby gets it she looks like she has a spasm because its so exciting and then it eventually ends up in her mouth. :)

Remotes are cool. lol

Fun question ! For my 12 year old - ESPN or Nick, for my 7 year old - Nick or Cartoon Network. Funny story - when my 12 year old was 3 or 4, he would turn it on a Spanish speaking station EVERY TIME ! It was always one of the spanish soap operas. I asked him one time why he did that instead of cartoons - he said he liked it ! I just wish he had picked up enough spanish to be bilingual :)

If my daughter is in the room, it will immediately go onto some totally obnoxious Disney show with screaming tweens. If my son is there, either absurd boy cartoons or the Xbox goes on. I seriously cannot walk out of the room to go pee or get a drink without actually saying, "I'm coming right back. Do NOT change the channel," without one of the 2 things happening.

my 8 y/o DD nick and my 12 y/o DS the science channel, if they aren't in the same room at the same time. If he picks up the remote before she does its "Bubby change it to 3 1 4!"

So my kids know how to turn on the TV but that's it so I pray every morning that my husband had an appropriate channel on if I can't get into the TV room in time.

One time my girlfriend's son, who must have been 3ish, knew how to work the remote or so she thought. He asked if he could watch his cartoons, she said yes, he grabbed the remote and pushed the buttons like he had done so many times before and got to the cartoon channel. She goes downstairs to change the laundry loads, folds, etc. So around 10 minutes later she comes up and sees that the channel was on...well let's say it wasn't appropriate for a 3 year old let alone an adult, if you get my drift. Luckily he had his head down and had been playing with his trucks and the volume was low. Not so good is her large TV points out the front window for the whole neighborhood to see and the curtains were open. From that point on she did all the channel changing!

My daughter doesn't usually turn the tv on. She will ask me first. I like this because I can usually control what is on, unless my hubby or step kids are around.

No, my daughter doesn't know the number but she knows the name, and even worst she knows that we can go back over and over and over and over to see Keeper the dog! Damn the day I present her to that feature!

Well, my kids are older but they have about 5 of their faves that they switch around to. Sometimes my 12 yo finds MTV and tapes ALL shows at ALL times and then has a ton of them to delete and gets upset that her other faves won't tape cuz theres no more room...lol! And even my 15 yo who is spec needs, mentally 5, knows how to push 37 to see if her favorite Spongebob is on. =)

Well, we don't have cable so it takes all of ten seconds to scroll through all the channels... That being said, my just-turned-6-year-old son goes straight to Qubo (all the PBS kids shows all day long... but with commercials).

We also have netflix streaming through the blue ray player and he definitely knows how to get to his stuff in the instant queue!
