Don't cheat--stick to 1 piece of advice--first one that pops into your head.

Someone you know is trying to get pregnant and asks you for 1 piece of advice--what do you tell them?

Me? I tell every woman I know not to waste $ on expensive pregnancy tests. Rather, get a few from the dollar store--they do the trick just fine.

What can I do next?

Same advice I give to pregnant people and parents - do what works for you.

Sometimes it's tracking the cycle, sometimes it's not tracking, sometimes it's the diet, sometimes it's not...each person is different and has to do what works for them. So I tell them to get off of the internet and away from the books - just live. Everything works out how it's supposed to.

Focus on enjoying the intimacy/sex. For everyone's well being sex shouldn't be relegated to the lowly status of baby making.

I'd tell her not to listen to everyone else's advice, especially anything found through random Google searches! Scares the pants off you and makes you think everything is your fault.

FYI If you asked the same question re delivery, I'd say "The purpose of all those breathing classes is for you have enough lung power to yell 'EPIDURAL!!' and be heard by staff anywhere on the labor/delivery floor." But that's just me!

Pretend you are living in the dark, ages like 50s thru 80s. No ovulation tests, no pregnancy tests that tell you you are pregnant before missed period. Just have fun with your husband. That's what we did and it worked out fine. Sometimes period was a couple of days late. Never knew if we were pregnant. Just assume it was late. Now people find out, then a few days after period due, start to bleed. Then find out not pregnant. The. The cycle of stress starts. Anyone who is in their 50s or older understands what I am saying.

My advice. Enjoy each other.

Trying to get pregnant for the first time: "Quit trying and just have fun."

Already pregnant: "Don't hang onto the idea of the birth going exactly the way you planned. The desired result is a healthy baby. If that baby comes via natural vaginal delivery or by cesarean section, it doesn't matter. You'll still have your baby."

Go on vacation. Even if it's a night in a hotel. We took a cruise and came back pregnant with our first. Went away for the weekend and came back with our 2nd. Relax, have fun!

Don't listen to, read, or watch delivery horror stories. I still can't convince my cousin that the odds are excellent that she'll have a normal vaginal delivery. She's sure that she'll have an emergency c-section (and I think her fear will guarantee it!)

If you're trying and you're stressing, go see a specialist. It could be as simple as timing.

Know/track your cycle. If you know when you ovulate, you can increase your chances.
