Totally normal at this age. I wouldn't worry I have seen this in many many kids at 4 5 and even at 6.

VERY normal!! Nothing to be concerned about, at least not at this point. I volunteer a lot at my kids school (preschool and kindergarten) I've yet to see a kid NOT do this. Both of mine did as well and my daughter who is 6 occasionally does her s and 7 backwards but at 4 - she did many letters backwards. No need to worry - I promise!!

Writing backwords, sideways, crooked and every other crazy way is normal. My oldest son is 10. When he started writing my husband was convinced he had a learning disorder. It is amazing how quickly the male mind forgets because when my daughter (6)started writing he was convinced she had a learning disorder. Needless to say, both are fine academically.

My daughter's name is Holly and she learned to write her name correctly quite quickly. Then, for some reason she started writing llhoy. This went on for a while.

I think that when a new world of learning is introduced kids like to experiment. Give your kids lots of praise as they learn and gentle corrections when they need them.

Good luck.

I have worked in the school district in LV for the past two years - and have five year olds who have gone through the same writing "issues" - Completely normal - they are just processing a lot of information and figuring it out/experimenting, etc. Don't worry!

Not to worry. DEFINITELY and COMPLETELY "normal." I teach pre-k and this is part of their brain figuring out the processing -their brain goes faster than they can get letters on paper. It is also a spacial coordination concept. Have you noticed how most kids start at the end of the page and have no room after the first letter?, so they put it in the front and so on. Their little brains get the hang of it. Every so often you can give a gentle reminder but it will self correct over time.
