It's most likely allergies. But she could be teething her last tooth? I didn't think so at first for my son who's also 26 M. too. He would constantly bite down on his pacifier and faux cry/whine all day. When he wouldn't eat his chicken nuggets, rice or mac n cheese or even suck on a dum dum, then there was definitely my sure sign of there's something wrong with him. Plus he had a high fever, so he did did have strep throat last week too. He had azithromax antibiotic which you take for 5 days, and then it "covers" for another 5 days.

If she's not any better, take her back to her dr.
Don't ever wait a month. Assume week to week. Whenever my kids are sick, I have them get checked out and even get a follow up appt. Good luck!

My daughter (3 yrs old) had this same scenario for months and at first we thought it was daycare and being around so many kids then we thought it was a cold or seasonal allergies but it NEVER seemed to go away. I took her to a naturalpathic pediatrician and through a moderate elimination diet (with food groups etc) we discovered she had allergy sensitivites to gluten and dairy. After greatly reducing to almost eliminating the two things from her diet...NO MORE RUNNY NOSE OR COUGH! My daughter also used to get what they 'allergy shiners' or a purple/red shine to her under eyes which always made her look tired. Your child may have a sensitivity or allergy to something else that is causing the non-stop symptoms and it would be worth checking out.

It could be allergies, but it can also be a cold. Before going back to the doctor, try cleaning your house with all natural products. Use vinegar and water to clean your floor, baking soda and vinegar to clean your counters, etc. Unplug any smelly things in your house, change out your air filter, vacuum your floors thoroughly, don't spray lysol or other smelly sprays in the air, etc. Change her bedding weekly and get her an allergen free pillow to sleep on. I did this with my son when he was your daughter's age and we have never had a problem with allergies since. They thought he might have asthma, but he wasn't showing all of the signs, just the coughing(not at night)no wheezing and a runny nose. All of this seriously went away when I started cleaning my house with products that didn't irritate my sons airways. Make sure to evaluate any daycare situation she is in, as well as, grandma and grandpas house, etc. See if this helps, if not, call the doctor on Monday.

Take her to the doc. Sounds like my son. That "fake" cough sounds like it could be allergies/asthma related. More of an annoying tickle where the breath kind of "catches."

At 18 months, my son seemed to have a slight runny nose and cough for about 9 months! Never really bad, never truly sick, just always kind of there. It could especially keep him awake at night. It was as if he always had a slight cold that he just couldn't shake off.

Finally, we found he had an slight ear infection that was probably there for a long time, but he never ran a fever so we never caught it. We did a strong antibiotic and then asthma med - the albuterol inhaler and a powder dose of singular daily for a while. Made a WORLD of difference! I don't like to give my kids too many meds, so I tend to let little colds go but I wish we had figured it all out or been more aggressive earlier. He was so much happier after that!

Now, 2 years later, he really doesn't have full-blown "asthma." If he gets a cold, we use the inhaler for a few days because otherwise it tends to settle into his chest and become a bad cough that can really linger. But he no longer takes any regular medication. We probably need to use the inhaler once or twice a year and that's it.

Lots of good suggestions here already. I agree that it's probably allergiges. My sons had the same issues. As long as the runny nose is clear and not green. I got rid of all the chemical cleaners, laundry detergents and such. Especially the air freshners you plug in and lysol. That stuff is toxic and constantly being emitted into the air. Aerosol sprays are such fine particles that they actually linger in the air for hours (even if you don't smell it). The chemicals in your laundry items stay on your clothes and bedding and it's being inhaled 24/7. When I changed to non-toxic cleaners and laundry items my kids had instant results. So much so that they got off their inhalers, nebulizers and constant use of antibiotics. IT was totally worth the change and saved us a lot of money. I was so impressed with the results that this is now my mission. Educating families about the toxins in their home and what the alternatives are.

If she has like a dry cough I would take her to the dr just to be checked out. I found out my son had allergies as well thxs to mommy and daddy.

My sisters 2yr old had the same symptoms...she put him on a Children's claritin and he has been great ever since. Talk to your pediatrician about putting her on claritin for awhile.

I have 5 children. I dread this time of the year because from the time they are quite young until they are about 4 or 5 they have runny noses and coughs every time the weather changes to cold. It lasts off and on for sometimes as long as a month or two. If her breathing isn't being hindered, I wouldn't bother taking her back to the dr. It may be allergies or a simple cold and either way there really isn't much the dr can do that you can't do yourself. Good luck.

Sounds like my son when we discovered he had allergies. Ayrtec wasn't doing it and we had no idea what was causing it. We had him allergy tested. They take little pins and pricked his back with them-they didn't hurt him because he did not cry. We found that he was allergic to cat hair. He is now on children's Singular and doing great. Once in a while he'll have the sniffels but it's been a lot better. Get her allergy tested.
