I have been approached by someone that wants to get in front of my Mom's Group to talk about toxins in the environment and how Shaklee products make the world a better place. Has anyone used this line of cleaning, health, and beauty products? I'd like to hear your thoughts... good or bad.

What can I do next?

I personally never attend those meetings, because it's offensive to me when someone tells me they are having a 'party' and it turns out to be a sales pitch. There are far more natural products out there than Shaklee. My mother has owned a natural health foods store since 1975 in CA, and Shaklee is not one of the preferred brands of people in that industry. Using vinegar and baking soda, castile soap like Dr. Bronner's, or products made by companies such as Method (cheap at Target), Mrs. Meyers, 7th Generation, Planet, BioKleen, and other more reliable (and non-Multi-level marketing) companies will work a lot better than Shaklee.

Now this is a forum where everyone is invited to share an opinion.....I know I will more than likely get hate mail but I am only expressing MY opinion.

I used 1 Shaklee product 1 time because this woman would not leave me alone about buying her products. I bought it to shut her up and make her leave me alone. WRONG....Move. It was some sort of drink mix. I did drink it and I was the sickest I had ever been. My hubby ended up taking me to ER due to it. I even told her it made me sick and she was very "oh well" and non caring. That $15 bottle of something cost me a lot more than $15 after I finished spending about 4 hrs at the ER and getting fluids replenished in my system.

I am not a fan of MLM's and people who want to sign you on to their business so you can make money for them.

We were invited to a "tasting" party not too long ago. We thought the friends were just having a little wine tasting. Well...we got there and here goes a selling sphill on Mona Vie. I was so insulted. I am not paying $40+ for a bottle of juice. AND..if things are going as well as they claim and they are making so much $$$ off of it, why do they need me to sell it for them?????? Nice friends, NOT

SO. If I were in your Mom's Group and anyone from anytype of selling like this came in. I would promptly and kindly excuse myself. That sounds like a trap.

These heavy selling groups remind me of all the time share sales that are pitched at you to PLEASE come listen at the beach, etc.

I apologize for offending anyone. That is not my intention.

I think it is great that you want to have a better environment for your boys! I had a preemie in 05 and was SO lucky that I had an all natural house years before he ever arrived.

I do not know much about Shaklee, except that they are a bit high priced. I have been a Melaleuca customer for 6 years and love their products beyond belief.

GL with your decision!

I prefer Mrs. Meyers, mostly because it's more convenient to find and buy.

Melaleuca has better products at cheaper prices. Well I don't want to say better. Shaklee has very good products and so does Melaleuca. It's just a matter of how much money you have to spend. I will say that Melaleuca has just upgraded their vitamins, they absorb better than any other vitamins on the market. And the laundry soap is now 6x concentrated. I have twins too they are 18

FYI Shaklee is not 100% natural, nor is it organic. Just do some researching on them. I think some of their products are good, but it's just not all it's cracked up to be (no offense to any consultants). I purchased two things from Shaklee only because I was in an exchange group. I didn't like the hand soap and threw it out. I also ordered some kind of stove top cleaner that I never once used (still under my sink from last year sometime). I couldn't get past the horrible smell.

Honestly, if you're concerned about the toxins and want to talk to your friends about it, just tell them about vinegar/water/baking soda. That's what I ended up changing my cleaning products to. Not only is it completely natural and non-toxic without harsh chemical fumes, but it's so much more inexpensive! It's one of the best decisions I've made in a while.

I have never heard anything bad about Shaklee- it is a manner of preference.I have heard lately and seen the science that you do not get maximun absorption from their multi minerals.
I think Gretchen's advice below is a perfect formula for your group. For the past 3 years I have been using Melaleuca.I absolutely love them- so if your're looking- I would at least try them both to see which one fits your household better. Good luck

Hello A.,
I have used Shaklee cleaning products for over 10 years. I love the fact that they are safe on my skin and of course good for the environment. My children use the vitamins and they are so healthy they never missed any days of school. I lost 35 lb on the diet program and kept it off for 2 years. Over the years I saw the company develop new products to keep up with the new research. As for the skin care, I experimented on my husband by putting the skin care on the left side of his face....not only his wrinkles disappeared, but they never appeared when I stopped. He looks lop-sided and is considering using the stuff on the other side.

My family has used Shaklee products for over 10 years. In fact, I gave my 6 month old daughter her first infant vitamins today! I firmly believe in the integrity and high standards of the company. Their cleaning products are very effective, so cheap, and great for the environment. I even wash all my produce in their all-purpose cleaner - it's that safe! Their supplements have made all the difference in my family's health, and my pregnancy. They have a 100% guarantee on their products, so you have nothing to lose!

I have heard great things about Shaklee. I did use their products many years ago and was happy with them. I actually would not mind purchasing their cleaning products again.
