Seeking Pediatrician in Katy

Hi moms,
I have been getting such great advice and referrals here! I have been here a little over a month and can put it off no longer--I MUST find a pediatrician for my 3 daughters. The oldest has severe asthma, the other two have mild asthma, one of them has hypothyroidism and severe lactose intolerance, while the other is allergic to milk. As you can see, we have some chronic conditions happening here, so we are more than just the average 'check up once a year and see you when you have a cold' kind of patients. My two youngest just celebrated their birthdays so are due for their annual exams. I would really love to find someone reasonably close to where I live (Grand Lakes); I've been given two referrals recently, one in Sugar Land and the other in West Houston, but both were a good half hour away. I was also referred to a doctor at Cinco Ranch Pediatrics, but was told "she's really good at getting you in and out"; I'm not certain that's the kind of doctor we need, given all the health issues we have. If any of you have children with chronic conditions and a pediatrician here in Katy that you really LOVE, please let me know! Thank you so much!!!

We moved to Katy in March, and my cousin recommended her daughter's pediatrician, Dr. Gordon at Grand Meadows Pediatrics. She was very nice and very thorough-- I liked her a lot. I think the office is right in Grand Lakes, on the corner of Fry and Peek? Still learning my way around-- sorry. The number is ###-###-####. They were taking new patients when we called a few months ago.

I use Dr. Lentsch@ Cinco Ranch Pediatrics.
Yes, they are quick, but quick as in you don't have a 2 hr. wait to see her .
My son has asthma, and eczema and numerous sinus infections throughout the year.
I trust her and Helen (the p.a. that she has.)
I love the fact that I don't have to wait days to get my sick child in to see her.
I also make notes to bring to remind myself what I need to discuss with her.
Her office staff is wonderful and helpful.
Choosing a ped.is hard .
Good luck.

I take my son to Dr. Moreno in Katy. He is in the office building beside Katy Memorial, just past the Grand Parkway exit off I-10. Coming from Grand Lakes you would just get on 99 and take a left under 1-10 and you will see the hospital. He is in Suite 310. His Nurse Practictioner, Linda Brock, is wonderful as well. They are very attentive to my son and not over reactive to things but thorough. He has been in practice around 28 years or so and used to be the head of pediatrics for Baylor. I liked him because when I went to interview him, he made it clear that he would take his time with us and if I needed a Dr. to get me in and out he might not be the one for me. I liked that a lot. Plus, when my son has had repeat ear infections they always sample me out whatever medication they can as well as giving me a script. But sometimes if they can, they just give me samples which is awesome! Best wishes in your search, hope this helps :)

You are correct about Cinco Ranch Peds. We were there for a year, and although it was great the first couple of months, but once they moved into the new offices - we simply became a herd of cattle.

We found Dr. Kisch at St. Christus. We lived in West Cinco Ranch and her office is just a bit further than we wanted to drive. But, what is 5 minutes compared to a peace of mind. I just love her 'bedside manner'. Dr. Kisch, truly takes the time needed to talk to you, go through options.. it was such a refreshing change - and 9 months later, we are STILL thrilled!!!

Good luck..

I take my son to Grand Meadows Peds. Not sure if they are accepting new children now, but Dr. Gordon is great.

Please do not use Monarch Medical clinic. They were horrible.

We used to see Dr. Cohen at TCPA - Katy (right next to Christus St. Catherine). He's gone due to personal medical reasons, so we now see Dr. Wexler in the same practice.

He's good, very straightforward and kind, but we're just in "in and out" kind of patients, so I don't know what it would be like in your situation.

By the way, if anyone knows what is going on with Dr. Cohen, I'd love to find out. We absolutely ADORED him. He was so kind and just a fantastic doctor. It took me forever to find someone I liked, and then he up and left us!

I have two boys with allergies. One with Milk and the other with fruits. I know what you mean about the doctors. I use Dr. Cade Nelms. He has been in the business for many years. He has done some special studies in Allergies. I love his staff and his office. We live in Cypress and drive to Katy to see them. Also we use Dr. Rihal as our allergist. He is just down stairs. By the way they are located at Cristus ST. Catherines on Fry.
