Hello,

This may be a silly question, but I was wating to know if any of you all had any ideas or suggestions on how to get your chld's hair to grow?? I have a 22 month old girl with real blond hair, and it is finally starting to come in the back but in the front it is maybe only 3 cm long! I have heard there are shampoo's you can use but I can't remember the name. I know it will eventually grow, mine took a lomg time to as a child, but I thought I would just see if you all had any suggestions.
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

As a hairstylist and a mom there is no way in the world that i would use a shampoo like that on a small child, any child really that couldn't understand or be able to not get it in their eyes. There are several out there that help fil in thinning hair but not a thing that i would safely use on my small child. They advertise things as being great for your hair but really some things are made up names to sound good for you. I don't mean any of this in a mean way, I just feel very strongly on this.

I know when my sister was little, my mom used some mane n tail shampoo on her. it helped a little after awhile, but eventually her hair grew and thickened up. This shampoo has horses on the bottle, because it is for horses, but i did see it in the shampoo isle at wal-mart one time. you can try that with her.

My hair was VERY slow to grow in also....of course now I have about 2 feet of it, so there you go...Anyway, my knowledge may be incomplete, but the only shampoos that I know of that encourage hair growth are for those with hair loss, and I've heard that once you use them you have to forever (think Rogaine).

I have heard that Rosemary oil may help hair grow better, and there are natural shampoos that contain it, but I know that Rosemary oil is very strong and can irritate the skin pretty easily so I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for a toddler.

My mom is a beautician, and she would say that when it does grow in more, cutting it often will help make it thicker.

Good luck!

The only thing I suggest other than pure patience is when you are washing her hair, give her a gentle scalp massage. It will help stimulate the folicle. My daughter and I were basically bald until we were about 2 or 3. Her hair will grow when it's time. Take comfort that all thing happen in God's time.
