My 3-1/2 year old son is in preschool and I would like to get gifts for his preschool teacher and teacher assistants. Unfortunately, I do not know any of them well so I don't know any likes and dislikes.
I was thinking about an ornament or Starbucks gift card but what if the do not celebrate Christmas or don't like Starbucks?!
I know you ladies will have some great ideas for me!

Homemade goodies like fudge and cookies would be good, but not everyone has time to make them. I know teachers get lots of candles, lotions, and knicknacks, so probably stay away from those. Gift cards are a great idea, especially for Starbucks because they will use it as a treat for themselves (rather than for the class, like a gift card to Staples, even though those are useful). Don't worry about whether or not they like Starbucks. I've received Starbucks gift cards before and I don't drink coffee, but I have never had a problem finding something to do with the gift cards.

I think both of your ideas are good ones. However if you want to do something else, you could try mall gift cards. Last year I was room mom for my daughter's preschool class, and I asked each family to give what they felt comfortable giving, and I took all the money and bought mall gift cards. That way the teachers could choose movie tickets, or go to a restaurant, or buy clothes, or go to the spa, or Starbucks, or whatever they wanted. The teachers were pretty much ecstatic.

This year I am not room mom, and apparently whoever is the room mom is asleep at the wheel, so we're left to our own devices for gifts. So this year my girls and I are making home made marshmallows (check the Martha Stewart website - it's super easy and cheap, but they are DELICIOUS!), as well as we are also filling mason jars with home made hot cocoa mix. It's a fun thing the kids can help with, and I think just about everyone likes hot chocolate and marshmallows, especially home made ones!

Anyhow, I hope that helps for a few ideas! =)

I have a couple of firends who are teachers and honestly a gift card that they can use for themselves or families is awesome. Target, Walmart, Starbucks, Movie Tickets - Everyone gets a lot of extra food /candy /sweets during the holidays with parties especially at schools / daycares.

we have done Target gift cards and Starbucks. I like Starbucks because every year they seem to have something cute to put the gift cards in. They have goodies, tea, chai, hot cocoa, so even if they're not coffee drinkers I think you'd have them covered.
