How Much Do You Pay Your Babysitters?

How many children do you have? How much do you pay your babysitters (high school or college age) per hour? I was thinking $6.00/hr for a college student for 1, sometimes 2 children. Does this seem reasonable?

What can I do next?

It depends are you looking for a baby sitter full time for when you work and what not or are you looking for a baby sitter to go out to like the movies once a week or so?IF you want a full time sitter then yes $6 an hour is fine if its a regular thing.IF you just want to go out on the town i would say no what i do is figure out how long im going to be gone say 2hrs ill give sitter $20 if im gone any longer then 2hrs ill add $5 every extra hour.hope this helps a little.good luck.

I think it is important to not take advantage of your babysitter. I feel like having someone take care of my children is one of the most important jobs I can ask entrust another to do. In regards to a day care person, you may be paying them less than you would a babysitter but consider that a day care provider has a number of children each day. So they are making more than $5 an hour. And the care your children receive at day care is never going to be as hands on and attentive as one on one with a babysitter.
My husband and I try to pay our babysitters the best that we can afford but we also are very clear on how we expect them to spend their time. Ie focused our out kids in engaging and educational activities with appropriate breaks. For 2 children we usually pay our babysitter $10 an hr. When you find a good babysitter they are worth their weight in gold!

I actually think 6 an hour is high. daycare providers who do alot more for a child while in care get paid less. unless you have the babysitter doing some extra chores I wouldnt pay that. I was also looking for a sitter and couldn't find anyone reasonalbe that I would pay. I have 3 children and still wouldnt pay that much. but then again that is me.good luck

I pay $5.00 an hour regardless if there is more than 1 child college or high school student, and if they do a great job I give a tip.
