Our Honda minivan is making some strange noises (running real rough when on the highway) and I'd like to get a tune up and have it checked out, but I don't want to be taken advantage of. Does anyone know of someone or a repair shop who you trust in the Southwest Suburbs? I live in Oak Lawn. Thanks!

Bell Side 7 Garage on Bell Road and 159th Street ###-###-####, in Homer Glen. It is family owned, and I feel that it is a place with knowledgable mechanics, and people whom you can trust. I have been going there for many years. Good Luck!

Mt. Greenwood Auto--103rd & Pulaski. Doesn't look like much, but the guys that own/run it are SO honest and nice. A friend recommended it to me and I have taken my car there several times since then. I recently moved from the south suburbs to the city and I will still go there despite the drive because these guys are so trustworthy. /they have been around a long time and really know their stuff too.

Hi H.! I'm in Oak Lawn, too! For the past several years, we have been taking our vehicles to Milex in Oak Lawn. Their number is ###-###-####. They are located on Southwest Highway near Oak Lawn High School/Red Lobster. About 95% of the time, they are able to get our vehicles in the day we call, and 95% of the time, the repairs are done that day or early the next. We've NEVER been disappointed with the service! The guys are super and have car-smarts galore! I've been on the phone numerous times with the head repair guy (Jim, I think) or the manager/owner (Len) simply talking about the pros and cons of repairing/not repairing a part. (Sometimes I think they've educated me enough on my Windstar that I can fix it myself!) And they will advise you if you should hold off on repairs or if you should sell it and run, which we've done. If it's minor, which sometimes it is with us, we've been TOLD it is minor and not given some outrageous bill. We take our cars there for the major repairs as well as for oil changes/check-ups. Tell them R. Parrish sent you! And good luck where ever you decide to take your van!

Hi H.,

There is a great mechanic in Bridgeview. He has a shop at 91 St and Harlem. He is our neighbor and he has fixed our cars in two ocassions, as well as our friends cars. He is very responsible.

The shop's name is Bridgeview Auto.

H.,

I know of this great guy that has a shop in Bridgeview. The name of the shop is called Tims Auto and if you call information they will tell you the number as I don't have it. My whole family has been going to this guy for the past eight years and he has done everything from putting a new engine to a new trans. If you are to have any questions please feel free to contact me.
