hello all

You all have been great on my previous questions - Such as getting Brandon back in his bed and getting him potty trained. Well on 2-6 he decided that he was going to go potty and has been doing everything on the potty since YEAH!! We also purchased a twin bed to see if we could get him back in his bed which for the most part has worked. We invented the bedtime fairy he gets a letter from the bedtime fairy everytime he sleeps all night in his big boy bed. But now comes in my new problem - at bedtime we do everything go potty and all -- well several times before he actually falls alseep he is calling me up there because he has to go potty - and usually everytime there is a little that comes out and sometimes there is alot that really warrants getting up for - I don't want to be h*** o* him because i don't want him to go backwards with the potty training. I think this is a game for him so he doesn't have to fall alseep but how do i stop it with out ruining everything - thanks A.

What can I do next?

My sister works at a doctors office told me that kids can wet the bed until they are six. I know you said that your little one wakes up to pee, which is great, but I just want to let you know some kids just go a lot at night. I know I didn't offer any advice, but i hope this little peice of information will help.

You are at a very difficult time right now! Been there done that. My son is now almost 4. We have frequently had sleep issues. My suggestion is that he IS playing you. I would give him an ultimatum and say that is it. Say you have one more chance to go potty before you go to sleep and that is it. If you wake up in the night then you can ask. Again tough age. We chose to work on the sleep and not the night time potty training because it was highly recommended by both a psychologist & our pediatrician. Our son is still in pull ups at night, but only really has an accident maybe 1-4 times a month. Sometimes he even goes longer then a month. Pick your battles and go with what is more difficult. If he had sleep issues prior to this I would not focus on the night time potty training yet. But that is just my opinion. Feel free to contact me if you want to complain to anyone. Been there done that! I will be doing it again soon as my daughter will be 2 next month!!

I've gone through this (and am going through it again) with my boys. It's annoying, but I always let them go. I know it's sometimes a tactic to avoid bedtime, but I also don't want to do anything to disrupt PT. It was a phase that passed with my older son, and I know it will pass with my younger son as well. Sorry I don't have any advice, but I do know how you feel!

We put a little potty in my daughter's room and that has worked for bedtime and naptimes with a night light. She only calls now if she poops and needs to be wiped. We also had her in pullups at night for a long time until she mastered it.

We leave a plastic potty (the trainer kind) in our daughters' bedroom for use at night- and clean it every morning. It saves us any issues of waking us for use after bedtime and our oldest is super proud in the morning when she shows us what she did over night. Our youngest is only 15 months and not close to potty training yet, but has so much interest in the potty, she may be closer than we think. Hope that helps!

That's the hard thing about training. It doesn't get easier. The only advice that I have is to continue to get up with him, even if its just a little bit. The end will soon be in sight. As he gets more used to his feelings he'll hold it longer and not get up so much. When you do get up with him don't speak with him while your up. He will try to talk to you and ask questions, just sit there until he's done.

When he does go to the potty does he get a reward of some kind? If yes, it could just be that he wants more of whatever the reward is. In which case you have to get him to see nighttime as a whole thing instead of a bunch of little naps.
