Hi everyone. I called the Dr. already and she said if he vomits one more time today to take him to the emergency room so they can put an iv on him for some electrolytes because he could then be severely hydrated.

I am posting this so I can have some input from moms whose child has had similar experiences, I just wanted to know how long it lasted, etc. Also, the Dr. recommended that I give him chicken broth, jello and pedialite popsicle (he does not like the plain or cherry liquids). Thankfully, I am still breastfeeding him so he's getting that also as his form of liquids.

The Dr. said don't give him any solids, just what I mentioned here until he is able to take these things in then I can slowly introduce some solids again. I am seeing the Dr. also tomorrow. This is the first time he is going through something like this, any advice from you would be so appreciated, thanks so much.

What can I do next?

Do you get parents magazine? There is an article in Feb. issue about this.

Also from their website:

Hope he feels better soon!

Hi Maria,

Give him pedi lite and freeze it into a popsicle.

Get some of that coke syrup and make him a drink.

there is an otc diarrhea medicine that is green. I can't think of the name.

Sounds like he has a bug. Keep giving him liquids so he doesn't get dehydrated. If he is off the bottle but liquides in a bottle and let him drink all the time.

Hope this helps. Good luck. D.

It is just a stomach virus. I had is at the beginning of last week and my 3yo son had it a few days ago. Your doctor is right. Limit his intake to clear fluids, chicken broth, etc. Once the virus passes, he will be able to eat more solids. The vomiting only lasted one day for me and my son.
