I'm trying to clean my stove and the area around it. I tried Mr. Clean for most..but not working...I just tried soaking 409 for a little bit and then scrubbing. TOUGH WORK! Any suggestions?

I kinda feel like not using my stove again once I figure out how to clean the darn thing! *sigh*

Help!

I tried everything too and then discovered that using a baking soda paste got all the goopy grease right off. I made a paste with just baking soda and a little water, very little water so the paste is almost dry. Rub it on the grease. The soda seemed to bond to my stovetop grease as I mixed it around. Then it wiped clean off. afterwardsI wiped the area down with damp rags to get the powdery soda residue off. Hope it works as well for you.

Very happy with the magic erasers. You really need to clean after every cooking, or the heat will bake on. And when I say you, I really mean me.

Not sure what type of stove you have, but with my Gas the burner are slightly raised so I put the burners on high and pour water on the stove top. The hot and I mean hot water dissovles the grease, and no chemicals.

Also depending on your stove top, try an abrasive cleaner (aka Brillo) which takes off everything if you do not need to worry about the finish.

Good luck!

I use Bar Keepers Friend. It comes in powder form, and you need to make a paste out of it before you use it. It also comes in a liquid, kinda like soft scrub. Read the directions first before you use it, to make sure it will work OK on your type of stove, and not scratch it. Sometimes if I have some really hard stuff to get off, I have my husband do it. Sometimes when you are stronger it comes off easier. Another thing you can do is get the owners manual out for your stove, or look it up online. Usually they give suggestions on the types of cleaners you can and cannot use. Good luck!
Oh, and those green scrubbie pads from the grocery store work wonders too along with the Bar Keepers Friend.

Some abrasive cleanser (comet, ajax, etc) and a Mr clean magic eraser.
You will have to use elbow grease.
Main thing is to clean it up each time after you cook so you wont have the build up problem.
Old, sticky grease is stinky, attracts ants and other insects and is a fire hazard. Once you get it all sparkling you will be proud of yourself.

Do not use something like Comet or Ajax. It's too abrasive and will scratch your stove. So will those green rough scrubbers.

I've used a paste made from baking soda and a small amount of water. Actually, I've used just straight baking soda and a damp cloth, mostly.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser also works. It truly is magical in what it will remove from surfaces without scratching the surface.

Once it's clean, just wipe it down every time or every few times after you using the stove. That way the grease won't get baked on.

I second Greased Lightning. Just used it on my microwave vent (above our stove) that was all grimy and greasy. Worked great!

Baking soda. Spray an area with water and spoon on some baking soda. Let it sit and work in. Then use a non abrasive scouring pad to loosen, and then wipe clean.

Easy Off. I use it and it works well. No scrubbing, no aggravation. It's a bit of an irritant so make sure you're in a ventilated room and use some gloves. You can get Fume Free, but I've always found there's no real difference.

You need something abrasive but gentle. Try a little baking soda and water and a sponge. It should take it right off!

If it's metal, use oven cleaner. Worked on the gas stove with metal top and burners I used to have. Be sure not to use anything abrasive or you will just wind up with scratches. I have a smooth glass electric cooktop in the house I have now that requires special cleaner - and it still doesn't do a great job. :(

I like to use a good grease cutting dish soap mixed with some baking soda. The soap disolves the grease and the soda acts like an abrasive, but isn't harsh on the finish like a commercial abrasive cleaner.
