Nothing to worry about. My son was due on Dec.31st and I was having a scheduled c-section. I could not go into labor so my dr. did and amnio 3 weeks prior to my due date. His lungs were borderline (everything would have been fine) so we waited one more week. He was born Dec. 15th healthy as can be. Good Luck to you. The amnio was not that bad at all. Take care.

I went through a similar situation last year. When I found out my daughter was over 8 pounds I told my doctor I wanted a c sect. When it was to unbarible to walk or stand I wanted to deliver. I was 37 weeks. He said he would prefer to have an amino just to make sure her lungs were mature. Yes I was a little nervous however I felt comfortable with the person who did the procedure. On December 6th I had the amino and the next day I was informed they were mature and we delivered on the 8th of december and my due date was the 26th. As long as they use ultrasound while doing the procedure there is very little risk for you and your little one. Good Luck to you and your family.

I have had an Amnio. It was scarey, but everything went fine. I would really think about having the baby stay inside you as long as possible. We had my first daughter three weeks early due to a placenta prevea. I was given shots to make sure that her lungs were fully developed. It did not work because when she arrived she had trouble breathing. She was in the NICU for 11 days hooked up to all these machine. It was the scarest time of my life. To this day my husband still thinks that she would have been fine if she was not forced to arrive so early. I know you do not want a Christmas baby, but it might be what is best.
