Has Anyone Gained Weight While Taking YAZ?

Any medication has a list a mile long of possible side effects, and weight gain is close to the top of the list for YAZ. My weight/clothing size has been the same for the last 20 years, and through 3 kids, but in the past few months I have been getting fat. Clothes I wore in January look terrible on me now. I'm watching what I eat, and have always been active, and it's still getting worse. It just dawned on me yesterday when I picked up my YAZ refill, that I started taking it around the same time, early this year. Has anyone else gained weight while taking YAZ or is it just the fact that I'm getting older? I've never had a weight gain problem with bc pills before.

What can I do next?

I started taking YAZ a little over a year ago. I have actually lost weight. I have taken many different pills in the last 13 years and have found that YAZ seems to work with my body best. My hair is not drying out like others seem to do. I do not have the mood swings that I had with others and it has been sucessful in regulating my periods. They last only 2 days at the most. Maybe YAZ is not the pill for you. There are others. Call your doctor, she should be able to help. Good Luck.

Not sure if my weight gain came from YAZ or not, Cuz I've been craving just the worst foods and eating them! I've gained it all in my middle region and I can't seem to shake it.
I also stopped taking the YAZ, because I noticed another correlation since I began taking YAZ - I was so swollen most days, I thought I would have to have my ring cut off! I could hardly even spin it on my finger. Not to mention it is expensive! we pay out of pocket.
After my 2nd son, I did the SHot; had anxiety with that one, so stopped taking it.
Tried it again after my 3rd son, only did it once... because I started having the same feelings that I had after my 2nd.
So currently we're wingin' it; which quite frankly with 3 boys, 8,5,and 2 is kinda stressful too. But we're not quite ready to make anything permanant nor do we plan to have any more kids, (although in the back of my head I keep wondering if the next one would be a daughter...)
Good luck with your BC, I haven't found one that works for me now that I'm older.

Yaz was recommended to me as the birth control pill least likely to cause weight gain. I used to also get sore (and larger) breasts on other birth control pills. Yaz has been a life saver for me. It may be that if other birth control pills didn't cause you to gain weight, you're an "opposite" case and should take one of those pills instead.

T.,
Thank you!! I am on Yaz, have been for 2 months and I have been gaining weight like I can't believe since starting the medication. I am getting close to the end of my current pack, and can't afford to take it anymore since I don't have insurance at the moment (my husband's job closed 4/13 & he had open heart surgery 5/17).
But reading your message explained a lot about the whole weight gain thing. Thanks for pointing that out.
