Hello! I have a cold, it started out as allergies. Since i am breastfeeding i do not think there is much i can do as far as OTC medicine. I would like to stay as natural as possible for the baby. I am taking my regular vitamins and extra vit c.....but do any of you have any tricks to help me feel better?

What can I do next?

I applaud your desire to stay as natural as possible, but if you really feel like you need some help, there are many things you can take while nursing. In fact, many medications are safe while nursing. If I recall correctly, you can take Sudafed or Claratin while pregnant, so taking it while nursing shouldn't be a problem. You should check with the pediatrician just to make sure, but there are options. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your baby is take care of mommy. :) Good luck!

Hi, I have recently gone through the same thing, my baby is 10 months old now and what worked for me was to take a warm bath so I feel as comfortable as possible first. Then lay down next to my son and breast feed him in the laying down position so that I can rest along side of him. Remember, you need as much rest as you can get to feel better.

Are your vitamins worth taking?? Some times we take vitamins that are doing us no good.

I use a liquid Immunity supplement (organic) called Simply Nutrilite Twist Tubes and my husband uses a product called Clear Gaurd for his allergies. Both are organic and have a money back guarantee. Go to we-us.mychoices.biz and search for them. My hubby had lots of allergy trouble until this product came out. My daughter gives it to her boxers to keep the hives away!!

Zinc lozenges are wonderful. they help your throat heal and heal as well. I prefer the lemon ones as they don't taste so "herbal". Not sure if you can take Zicam while you are breastfeeding... I also believe that tea helps - Gypsy Colc Care & Throat Coat... depending on what is ailing you. Drink lots of fluids - especially water!! Hope you feel better soon!!

Hi,
That was hard for me too when I was breastfeeding! I know they aren't the most fun...but those sinus cleanse things are amazing! The kind you get that looks like a genie lamp...then you add water and some salt (it comes in the package). Then you lean over and pour it into your nose...while it cleans it out! Surprisingly, it works wonders and no, it doesn't feel bad or anything. I was clear, no more congestion...and you can do it often.
They are sold at most stores.
Good luck!
