Hi Moms!
I would like to hear your opinions and views on the H1N1 vaccine. After careful consideration, research, and young children dying in our area, I have had my 4 year old daughter get her first round of the swine flu mist. She had no side effects from the vaccine. My son is too young for the mist and the shot is not available to us yet. I am a little more concerned about him since he is younger and we are not aware if he has an allergies yet. I have not found enough information supporting against getting the vaccine. Some mothers I have talked to said their pediactrian advised against but they dont know why. Again, any information that you can share would be appreciated. Thanks Ladies!

So What Happened?

Thanks Moms for your insight! It is GREATLY appreciated! I wasnt finding anything strongly stating against the vaccine. Lisa I watched that video, and this is where it gets confusing to me, because our pediatrican has convinced me that all vaccinations for children has had the mercury removed. All of the info Im getting is conflicting. I do want to do some more research and hear other views before I get my 4 year old a second dose that is recommended and my 1 year his first dose. Thank you all so much!

You need to check out mercola.com
Today his newsletter had an interestiung article about it and he has had several this last few months. To see the old articles, you may have to sign up, but it is free. He is an MD in Chicago with lots of good info.

I read this and decided not to vaccinate our 3 girls.

What I read scared me.....I have a child with mild autism and so it concerned me more after reading the info and listening to the Dr. in the video. I also have a friend that is a nurse and she said some of the same things this Dr in the video said before I saw his video.

Everyone has to decide for themselves. Their are risks either way. Right now they say less than 1% of people die from the H1N1 virus and that it's not any more deadly than the regular flu it's just that more people are getting it and that's why the #'s are going up. That's what my daughters pediatrician said. She however was having her children vaccinated.

My husband and I have chose not to after reading and hearing all the information we have.

We are basing our decision on our family's risk factors. If your son goes to day care, I think his risk factor would be high. However, if he doesn't come in contact with a lot of people, then you might be able to skate through flu season without a vaccination.

In our family, My husband and I got the seasonal flu shot and we will get the H1N1 flu shot when it is available, (as long as we don't catch it first!!) This will keep us from bringing home either virus to our children. We are not vaccinating the kids. They don't go to daycare and they don't get out much :)

You already have one person in your family with immunity, so even though your son didn't get the H1N1 flu shot, he benefits from the immunity of those around him.

I have no proof of anything negative with the vaccine either, but I wanted to letyou know that I do not plan to get my children vaccinated for h1n1. They have had the regular flu vaccine, however. I did want to tell you about a conversation I overheard while I was at an area hospital after my youngest had minor surgery. I was holding him as he was waking up after his surgery in the recovry room and two nurses were talking to each other next to me, of course I was listening to them! haha... Anyway, they specifically told each other that they were not going to get their children vaccinated for H1n1. Of course I couldn't ask why b.c I was eaves-dropping to begin with, but to me to hear two health professionals speaking openly amongst themselves spoke volumes to me.
