Good Hospital in Dallas/Plano/Richardson for C-section? Want to See Baby More!

We have two children. The first was born early and was in the NICU for a while, so we didn't get him to ourselves until he was about eight days old. I wanted a different kind of experience for our second child. I told the hospital staff we wanted to see the baby as soon as possible after the c-section because he was going to be breastfed, and I explained the situation with our first child and how we really wanted to spend time with our second child as soon as possible after he was born.

It didn't happen that way. They took him for almost two hours right after the c-section (they showed him over the curtain to me for about 10 seconds before they took him to the nursery), then let us have him for about half an hour, then took him again for HOURS, then finally let us have him for a few hours in the evening (the c-section was at 8 a.m.).

Anyway, we plan to have another child and I would really like to have a good experience, where we get the hold the baby as soon as possible after the c-section and keep him for a long period of time before they go and do all that stuff that doesn't REALLY have to be done right away.

Any suggestions? I would really appreciate it. If you have a suggestion of a hospital, I would also appreciate your recommendation of a doctor who uses that hospital, as the OBGYN I use only goes to this one hospital that I don't like.

Thank you so much.

I had my kiddo at medical city & had to threaten them with legal action if they didn't leave the baby with me in recovery (husband actually had to snatch baby out of nurse's hands.). So ... unless you want to argue I wouldn't recommend there.

My sis had hers at presby Dallas, and she got her baby for an hour immediately after c-section. Plus she got to have 2 people in with her for her section. Not sure who her md was, tho.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Medical Center of Plano...I delivered my youngest 2 years ago and loved my stay there. The nurses were wonderful and my baby stayed in my room as much or as little as I wanted. They took fantastic care of us. I have friends who have delivered at Presby Plano as well and had great experiences.

Plano Prsby was amazing. She only left or about 1-2 hours every morning. She was with me and my husband the rest of the time. We were there post c section for five days. They took her straight to my husband immediately after delivery and once I was in recovery we breastfed and all of us went to a room together. I would have a million babies there.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Presbyterian Hospitals around town. I personally love Presby Dallas. I delivered both of my children there via c-section. The second was born just 12 weeks ago. I had a planned c-section with my second pregnancy and I held my baby as soon as he was born. After that, they took him to examine him/clean him but I had him back in my room within an hour or an hour and a half. He then remained in my room for the duration of our stay (except for the time they would take him for his own examinations). This hospital is also very pro-breast feeding and have lactation consultants on hand to help you start that process if you need. The nurses were awesome and I can't say enough great things about our experience there. Good luck!

I had my daughter naturally at Presbyterian Hospital at the Margot Perot center and the facility is amazing. They have a top level III NICU and we received wonderful patient care throughout our time there.

I also had a fantastic experience at Plano Presby. I delivered via c-section and had my son with me within 1 hour of delivery. Then, with the exception of his physical with the pediatrician the next morning, he stayed in my room the entire time until we went home 3 days later. I think it's a fantastic facility.

As for my OBGYN, I was THRILLED with Julie Farrow. Her office is in the Plano Presby building. 6200 W. Parker Rd; Suite 306, MOB 1; Plano, TX 75093 ###-###-####.

Best of luck to you!
