Fever and Breastmilk

Both my babies have not been able to handle their breastmilk with fevers, especially at night. My smallest is on breastmilk only and when she gets a fever from shots, etc, she has a tendency to lose her bellyful of breastmilk, especially at night. My oldest is now 2 so she is no longer on breastmilk but she was the same way. Are there any suggestions as to how to handle this? I am thinking I may have to just let it run it's course. Thanks!

What can I do next?

If your kids are vomiting after vaccines, I would rethink your vaccine schedule. I would STOP all of them for now and if you choose to start up again, I would space them out and only do one at a time. Your baby's body is trying to expel the toxins in the vaccine.

Maybe this is nature's way of letting you know that those shots aren't good for your little baby. Or maybe look into an alternative vaccine schedule where they aren't getting so many at once. And you may want to rethink the shots where there are more than one vaccine in a single shot--you can ask for those individually. Blessings!

Dear C.,

I do not have any experience with my babies throwing up breastmilk when they have a fever, but I would encourage you to breastfeed as often as you can. Your milk has antibodies that can help the baby fight off infecttion. It is amazing.
Make sure to watch for signs of dehydration if the baby continues to throw up.
As for the baby's fever, I have a few suggestions for treating the fever naturally. If you are interested, please let me know. I would be happy to help. I have four children (ages 8, 6, 3, 1) and we have given only one antibiotic in 3 1/2 years (when I learned about natural options).

C.:

the wonderful thing with breastmilk is that they get nutrients even though it may appear that the whole feeding is returned.

Try only feeding for a couple minutes on each side. That way they'll only get the foremilk that's the consistency of skim, easier to digest. The end milk is thicker and has the most fats.
