Ugh, I have no idea what to do for him. There reallly isn't anything he wants that is affordable. I am trying to come up with a craft project that could be cool for my son to do. But my son is now a young teen, all the idea are for younger kids, and I am not coming up with anything on my own.

I am sure we can do the car wash package again, he does like that, but again? He can do that on his own. We have done picture frames, and trinket boxes. He is not into sports. He could care less about food. ugh ugh ugh, It doesn't hep my birthday is the friday before(40) and I am just annoyed that if I try to make a big deal out of mine he will be annoyed. At least it doesn't fall on fathers day this year.

So what would you do or get for Mikey, who hates everything?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well it might not get here in time, but I am looking at a vintage car/owner book that goes with the Malibu. I am not getting him a transmission LOL. Well shister, might as do that for his birthdya right around the corner. Whichmeans I am still on the hunt for sunday. HUM, I guess a trip to the auto store. We recently got the car, so maybe I can find something to put together. I know we need parts, but asking him kind of takes the surprise out of it, and I think we have tackled all the smaller things.

No hobbie, least not anymore, doesn't read, could care less about sports. They guys occaisionally shoot togehter, but Ieven then I feel I am forcing it on him. He reallly doesn't want to do anything anymored. really didn't mean for this to come off as a vent.

I bought my husband and our teen son tickets to tour Cowboy Stadium a couple of years ago. It was $15 per ticket. Super affordable. It has been a total highlight in thier relationship. It's something they shared together and took tons of pictures. I would say most memorable Fathers Day gift ever.

I wouldn't force the issue on this. Giving presents isn't really what teenage boys are thinking about. Let him do something on his own.

Here is a craft that would be great for an older kid to make and I think that dads would appreciate - a duct tape wallet! This is one website with instructions, but there are numerous others. http://duckbrand.com/Duck%20Tape%20Club/ducktivities/wall...
I like the idea of giving them something to do together, like Tracyxo suggested touring Cowboy Stadium. Something that they could bond over and create a special memory. What are the dad's hobbies? My husband was thrilled to get a coupon book from my son that said "I will spend a day with you doing what you want to do." You could have your son make a coupon or two for help with washing the car, etc and put them in the duct tape wallet!

Does he enjoy any sports? Golf, for instance? You could buy him a
round of golf. You can find inexpensive course.

Did he grow up in the area? How about taking a picture of his old childhood house?

Does he bbq? How about new bbq tools?

Tickets to a sporting event but only if he would enjoy it.

Think....what ARE his interests? He has to have something, I would hope. Does he read, play video games, like to sit outside? What is he into? Then go that route.
Does he have an easy chair to sit in in the living room?
Magazine subscription?
Kindle?
I know you say he's not into food but how about a fave snack?
Lawn chair if he sits outside.

Btw, enjoy your 40th & treat yourself making YOUR day special! :) A birthday is special. Every year we get older means another year we are alive & healthy! It should have nothing to do w/Father's Day. They get that every year too.

Is he sentimental at all? I love (and will be using), the make a book of what your kid thinks/says about dad. I think they are adorable when done with littles, but really cool when done with teenagers who "know everything" about the world. Have him create a book (with your help....so he will actually do it), and have him answer questions about what he thinks dad was like when he was 14. Like, "what kind of music do you think Dad was into?" Then maybe have your son write in what his favorite music is.

You could also do it as a video....maybe that would be more fun. Then you get to capture your son's voice (I'm guessing it's been changing lately).

As far as gifts, that is hard. I'd stick to the sentimental stuff. That's what it's all about anyway, right?
