Father's Day Ideas - Mooresville, NC

How about a father's day bouquet. You could get those balloon sticks and insert different things on each one. i.e gift card to men's clothing store, movie tickets, ball game tickets..etc. on other sticks you could write a reason you love him on colorful paper. You could make him a coupon book for things to redeem like a back rub, that you'll mow the lawn things like that. You could get helium balloons and at the party store have them insert little notes saying things about how he is a good dad. You could do a Father's day bbq and honor him in front of everyone by saying how much you appreciate him as a dad. Breakfast in bed would be nice. If all else fails there's always a tie! hehe

I just visited my uncle. My daughter has sent him a digital frame with pics of her girls, family, things they all did when my aunt was alive etc. He just loves this. It takes a little chip, and you can add them anytime.
Another idea is, taking her to a cerAMIC studio and putting her handprints on a plate which he then hangs on THE WALL. We used A STAR SHAPED PLATE, AND USED BOTH LITTLE HANDS. Wrote her NAME, AND AGE AND the year.

I have decided to take my husband and kids on the General Jackson this year. We have never been, and it's something my husband has always wanted to do. Prices vary, but we are doing the cruise only.

My name is D.. One thing that I started doing for my husband on Fathers Day is to buy a little personal photo book that holds about 24 pics and fill it with tender moments between my daughter and husband. Of course he never sees me taking the pictures from a distance and is always surprised at the moments that I capture. I then trace my daughters hand and put it in one of the photo spots with the date. Needless to say, he has 6 years worth of precious memories that he treasures and is able to share with friends. There is a book by Steven Curtis Chapman called "Cinderella: The love of Daddy and his Princess" and it is about the blessing of childhood, love, and family. It is a modern fairy tale teaching us as parents especially Father's how to hand their little girls their glass slipper! Steven recently lost his daughter in a car accident, but wrote this book about her beforehand. There is also a wonderful song by him called "Cinderella" it is on his new cd and any father that hears it will well up with tears thinking about his little girl and the special love they share that no "prince" will ever know!

Or I do candles so I can do a picture candles also. I can put a pic in front on the Ivy Bowl and it makes a cute candle. It would only be about $6 or so. U can look at my site and see others like the Golf and Beer candle. You could pick it up Friday.

I second the photo book idea. My dh is deployed this year so I made him a photo book at http://www.clarkcolor.com. I included poems, quotes, and a compilation of pictures of the kids from birth to now to include him with the kids, family trips and random photos I've taken since he's been gone that he hasn't seen. Most of the photos were black & white but I included some color ones as well. You can edit and change photo color with the photo book program. It was simple but time consuming mainly because I was deciding what photos to include.

In the past, I've also used 12x12 picture frame, a 12x12 scrapbooking acid free paper and given the kids my acid free pens to let them create. It didn't matter that he was little, that was the beauty of it. I used paint to make a hand print on the page and then I would add photos of their dad and them together. He's loved this and hangs it in his office.

One of my favorite gifts we made him is along the same lines as the photo frame. I used an 8 1/2 x 11 frame & scrapbooking paper. I selected one picture of ds with dad, used paint to make his handprint and then typed an "I Love You because..." list. I included things like ...you read me stories, ...you wrestle with me, ...you give me hugs and kisses, ...you tuck me in at night, ...you teach me things. I listed things that were unique to their relationship. This is by far his most favorite gift.

How about something romantic and make the day about him. Breakfast in bed, candle light dinner, something sexy. Let him know that you appreciate the person that he is as a father and a husband. Do something you normally don't. Good luck and God bless

Go to www.shutterfly.com and click on the link that says something like get inspired. They have lots of ideas for photo books you can make (from other people who have made and posted what they did). They are really awesome! You can upload your pictures, add text, and choose different background papers. I made one for my husband for this father's day from my son and me and it turned out awesome (I already received it in the mail). There may not be enough time to make it and have it sent to you before father's day, but they still have some great ideas.

Get you and your daughters picture taken together, put it in a nice frame for him to take to work, or have it transferred onto a coffee cup. If you don't want to be in it then just take her picture, have fun, V.

My husband loves when I buy him a Greatest Dad shirt(there are usually many to choose from this time of year) and put the kids handprints on it using craft paint. I buy this anywhere from Michael's to Target. Then I use the paint to write the kid's names on it and the year.

I commend you and your husband for what you both are doing for the sake of your baby. I also have a 22 month old and my husband and I take turns babysitting. He works days, me nights. We don't take our daughter to a babysitter either and we both stimulate her brain continuously every second that she is awake (and sometimes it isn't of our choice.... it is hers.) Even though it is h*** o* a relationship.....well it isn't that the relationship is hard it is h*** o* not being together as much as we are use to. The relationship is just as easy now than ever. But we both make sacrifices because we both love her and want the best for her. And my husband is also VERY SPECIAL, so I understand exactly what you mean.
I don't have any father's day ideas but those kind of men are just as happy knowing that they are loved as much. It takes a special person to do what he does.... and you are special for doing what you do and sharing and involving him. I think that you have a keeper.

You may want to make a plaster hand print. there is a child's poem about fingerprints that is really nice. I have handprints from some of my nieces/nephews that I was really close to. If you don't want to use plaster, you can use paint and do it that way.

An idea I just read about was using a canning jar and putting a picture of the child and/or child fater together and then filling it with candy or something special and putting a ribbon around the ring. I thought that was nice.

How about putting together a small scrapbook of photos of just the two of them? I made one for my husband about 4 years ago, but since then we've had two more children so I need to make another one. I did it on the cheap - bought a ready made book at Hobby Lobby and just used a bit of paper to jazz up the pages and put nearly every photo of my husband with the kids in it. I also put the date and who was with him as my children when they are really small look a lot alike (we now have 5.) For the past few years, I've been trying to make sure I take photos of him with the kids for the next Father's Day scrapbook. However, I have all the supplies for a new small scrapbook, but I haven't done it yet and Father's Day is in a few days! Be sure to leave a few blank pages at the end so you can continue to add to it. Another idea is for your daughter to draw him a picture or paint a picture and then you can frame it. That can be done inexpensively as well! Good luck!

Go to www.shutterfly.com and create a book. You can put captions on it and include pictures of your daughter and him together. Or, ones of your daughter. (I had mine pose for a few and slipped in some snapshots). My husband still looks at his 2 years later!!

I am a Creative Memories Scrapbooking Consultant and I can help you do a really cute album from your daughter to him for about $15. It takes about 2 hours!

My neighbor gave me a great idea. She went to Walmart and got some scrapbooking quotes and words. She got some paint and put her daughter's handprints, some pictures of her daughter and husband together and those quotes on a sheet of paper and had it framed. She took a gold pen on black paper and wrote I love you daddy and had her daughter scribble on it and pasted that to the paper as well.

Pack a nice picnic and go to Pullen Park. It will be a wonderful time for all of you and very thoughtful. They can ride the carousel, the train and simply enjoy the weather, hopefully a little less got this weekend.

We are outdoor people as well and feel so relaxed after a nice day outside. It will make a nice day for him at the least. As for gifts, I would suggest a kayak trip down the Neuse river (just north of 540/Falls of Neuse Rd). For the two of you it would be about $100 for the guided trip and gear. If you cannot find anyone to watch you little girl, think about Moments Notice, Inc or Right Time Kids in North Raleigh. We drop ou son at Moments Notice in Wake Forest and they do a wonderful job at caring for him. It is $9/hr.

I have gotten travel mugs made with the kids pictures on them from www.snapfish.com (Wash by hand)My husband and family love them. They also do a great job on t-shirts. I uploaded a beach picture of the kids and had it printed on a t-shirt---LOOKED AWESOME. Very clear, washes nicely. I was thinking of making mosaia stepping stones with the kids hand/foot prints - one for each child. Hope you find what you are looking for. Good Luck!

For my first mother's day, my WONDERFUL husband framed a picture my daughter (at the time 7 months old) "painted" for me. It was the best present I ever got. You could do the same for him. And you could also do something that would be a treat for him like buy him a round of golf if he's into that. Or something along those lines. So he'll get the sentimental gift and something rewarding for all his hard work.

For Grandpa a few years ago I got fabric paint and painted the bottom of my child's foot and placed three foot prints walking up the side of the front of the shirt so they end at his heart. and then I wrote "walking into grandpa's hearts". Or daddy's heart and then I drew a heart and wrote her name around the outside of it.

How about a father/daughter shirts. Just google it-there are lots of businesses that sell Father/Daughter/Son shirts. I bought my husband Father/Son shirts this year. One says Big guy Bakane(our last name)and the other says Little Guy Bakane. They are really cute.

One thing that was neat was one of those cakes that you can get a picture put on it. Kroger, Publix, any of them do it. You pick a special photo of he and her and then can put it on top of a cake and it looks perfect! Then, have the actual photo framed as a gift....His first father's day I had a journal and all of his friends and families sign it with words of wisdom and advice. this year he is getting a new grill and we are taking him camping. He loves the outdoors and grilling. Last year he got a gift certificate to a cooking class at Viking Cooking School. He could get a golf gift certificate, whatever his hobby or likes are...it doesn't necessarily have to be about the baby. It could be about giving him a break, a day of his own, since he works so hard taking care of her with you. Like a spa day for you would be nice, think of what he would enjoy. Tickets to a sport he likes, something as easy as his favorite dinner and dessert and just relaxing. A over night trip with friends to fish, etc A book if he likes to read, a CD, and dinner. Pay someone to cut the grass for him one weekend....
