My husband is a Sheriff's Deputy. I want to make him something that he can have in his patrol car with him while he works. I have some pictures but I am not sure where he can put those? Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for all your suggestions for a father's day gift for my husband. I ended up printing up some pictures for him and found some small magentic frames to put them in. He has put them on the console of his patrol car that way only he can see them. :)

Thanks again

How about having him a leather ticket book made? I have one made for my husband, he loves it. The place I used is Looper Leather, 800-299-5667, or on the web at www.looperleather.com. Good luck!

How about a key chain? My daughter did this for her father, she selected beads and made it all by herself! Her father has his business truck keys on it and loves it!

I agree with the other two requests, but if you have your heart set on getting him something for the car, perhaps you can purpase the Coffee Mug Kit at Hallmark. You unscrew the bottom, slide the photo in-between the inside and outside rim. You can decorate with the markers included and the stickers. Makes a great way for him to keep you with him all day.
This is what I got my husband, although he isn't around "perps" all day.

I got my husband a keychain that plays digital pictures. They are only about $30 and he has about 20 pictures of the kids and me always. Also, it is really easy to change the pics.
I hope that helps.

Very creative idea, he will alway's have it with him! Is their surface in his car that allow for magnets, or does he already have a cup holder? You could have babe's picture transfered to a travel cup, or a magnet??

Just suggestions!

Good Luck!

I don't know what the rules are relating to personal items in a patrol car, but please DO NOT put photos of either you or your children where any criminal can see or get their hands on them. In his line of work, the more of his private life he can keep private, the better. Surely, you can find a good luck charm, a religous symbal or an inspirational plac.
But Please, not a picture.

how about making a visor collage? Take a piece of cardboard the size of a visor, cover it in a fabric glued with fabric glue, paste the pictures of you and baby to the fabric and add two pieces of elastic to hold it on to his visor. when the sun gets in his eyes and he pulls the visor down: you and son are now in his eyes! hope that is helpful!

I would have to agree with the PP about not wanting "perps" looking at your child. Does he have a locker at the station? Perhaps pictures placed in those magnetic frames and placed on the inside of his locker.

just a thought,

get him one of those new digital photo keychains...they come in varying amounts of memory and you can scan (or pay to have them scanned) any non-digital pictures you want to place on it. Plus you can change out what pics are on it whenever so he always has updated ones!!!

My husband is SO too, but he won't even carry pictures in his wallet. He is so paranoid about the "bad guys" finding out he has a family and what we look like. I am getting pictures made of me and our daughter for his gift, but they are going to be framed and stay at home.

Hi A.,
Sorry to hear you are having so many post surgery complications. Doctors don't know everything!!! And they certainly don't know how your body is going to react to surgery! However you can take control of the situation yourself. I'm sure your body is just way out of whack due to whatever was done to it during surgery, but you can get it back to working normal again. I have been in nutrition over 30 years and I have been drinking the mangosteen juice for about 3 years now. It's only been on the market for 5. Anyways, this juice has gotten me off of all my hormone pills, regulated my organs to function properly, and keeps inflammation at bay (which btw causes all disease, especially cancer). I could go on and on, but what I can tell you about it is just this....IT WORKS!!! There is only one company that makes it from the whole fruit puree and that is XANGO! I hightly recommend that you give it a try. It's not an overnight miracle worker, it will take about 1-3 months to get your body regulated, but without any drugs that cause more damage! Visit my website, explore all the tabs, listen to the audios, you will be impressed, then order the juice and get started feeling better. You have nothing to lose except the problems you are experiencing now!

Take care!

I gave my husband his Father's Day gift early, a small cooler (Igloo) that claims to stay cool 3 + days, so that in Texas it means one whole day in the trunk. On the lid you can put your photo and say :"Stay cool honey, I love you !" or some such sentiment. My husband really appreciated it as he spends all day driving and needs cool drinks to keep him going. Just my 2 cents !

They have a digital photo dohicky that is about the size of a credit card and you can load a certain number of pictures on it. Maybe he could keep this in his wallet? Walgreens has a section "as seen on TV" you may find it there.

I like the mug idea too. At craft stores they have mugs that you can change out the pictures. either photos or drawings.

Good luck!

My husband is a PO, but not SO. Our Officers are the same - they don't keep family pictures where the subjects can see them for our safety. So, if you really want something for in the car, maybe you can figure out a way to decorate the inside of the glove compartment door. When he opens the glove compartment, does the door lay flat open or does it just tilt out a little?

If it opens flat maybe you can fit the pictures on there and everytime he opens it, there is his family.

If the door only tilts out a bit, and you like to put photo albums together, then maybe you can make a little "Daddy's Brag Book" (the size that holds 4"x6" or smaller photos) that he can keep in there, not filling it completely to add photos to or making the kind where you can add pages to it as you make new memories.

My daughter made a keychain for that big dufflebag he calls his "briefcase" - the one he keeps the extra copies of all the various forms he made need in the middle of the night, his ticket book holder, penal code books, etc., in. It was just some alternating letter and heart beads that spelled out "*D*A*D*D*Y*" (couldn't make hearts on here) on some of that twine-like jewelry cord and a lanyard keychain hook. He loves it and she is proud that he put it in there. Yours can have beads with sports or other boy designs in between the letters instead of hearts :)

Hope you find something to fit y'all.

My first thought is that a small charm with a lock of hair and picture that can on his key chain would always be with him and would see it several time a day no matter what.

Good luck.

Figure out something with the pictures. That's the best idea.

I have some business card size magnets and some laminating sheets. With all the equipment they have in the front, I'd hope there would be something a magnet would stick to. If that's where you go with it - email me direct.

And hug that man of yours for me. Tell him one old grandma out here says thanks for risking his life every day for me. God Bless our troops abroad and God Bless our troops in police uniforms.

When I was a police officer I did know several ppl who did have pictures in the area of the speedometer...hmmm : ) but in general this was not a practice that anyone condone for the reason previously listed. If he wears a "necklace" of any kind then a laser print dogtag would work, a personalized pen, mug would be great... or a picture could be placed in his clipboard/ ticket book or in his breast pocket for a quick pull out. Hope this helps!

A., a wonderful gift would perhaps be a beaded angel which you can make yourself, you can pick the kit up at any craft store... he can hang this from mirrow or you could fix a stand for it to stand in the left cornor of the dash. Also a a two part keychain or necklace where u keep halk with you and he keeps the other with him.. however these you would have to purchase but something nice to go with the angle..Good Luck

Hi A.,

I agree with the several postings about not using pictures, just because of your husband's line of work. My suggestion, I got this for my husband, at James Avery they have a key chain that has 2 parts, one for the wife and one for the husband, that reads (each piece has this one it)"God be with us together and apart". My husband loves it. He doesn't were jewlery and he is so hard to buy for, this was perfect.

Good Luck,

L.

I agree with PP. Photos are not a great idea for safety. Best not to have them around at all/ How about a travel mug of your children's artwork? They can draw or paint a picture and then you can scan it in at walgreens or at home if you have a good scanner. Then you can treat that file like you would the pictures. Starbucks has a travel mug that you can pop open and insert pictures also. Then he can take it with him when he has to go to the station. Also eco-friendly. He will save all of those paper cups.
I know that it sounds silly, but some of your deputies would keep one of their children's old stuffed animals with them either in the passenger seat or the trunck. They would let children use it at an accedent scene. Maybe your children have one that they would like to share with the kids. THen your DH would be reminded of his kids and their kind-hearted spirit when he has to use it.

A., I'm not certain if you like this idea or not; but, how about one of those canvas totes that have slots along the outside for photos ? You could change them out as you like. Would your husband put one in the patrol car ? You could always have a throw or something in there that sort of hangs over it, so that it would not look too feminine. Hope that might work.

Oh, and that bag could be covered with the throw in the front seat so that the bad guys couldn't see it. AND, naturally you would not include a photo with all of you in it, just a couple of single snapshots of people.
