Breezy Point in Brainerd is awesome! Great pools, playground, a downtown to explore, walking trails and lots of shopping and eating in Brainerd.

We took our 2 year old to Mankato in June. We went to Mineopa State Park (located a few minutes from Mankato). On the way down you can stop at Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard (located in Jordan). The Mall in Mankato, River Hills Mall has a merry-go round inside that my son really enjoyed. There's also Sibley Park located by the river. They have a small zoo outside. You can feed the prairie dogs, goats and ducks. They have many hotels, including Holiday Inn located in downtown. The drive there is very short, almost 2 hours.

We've liked Breezy Point as well . . . you can't go wrong anywhere in/near Brainerd. Your child will love running on beach & sitting in the sand/water while you get a chance to relax & be in the sun too. It's even more fun to have another family with so the kids can play together & you get adult time too.

If you want to go somewhere fun but not extravagant then I suggest Wisconsin dells. Alot of the parents at my daughters school have suggested that to us as this year we are going on our first family vacation.

I don't know what you like to do, but our family loves the cabins at Clearwater Lodge on the Gunflint trail. The whole family has gone a couple of times now, ages range from 7 months to 83 years and everyone has a good time. It's peaceful, relaxing, and fun too! www.canoebwca.com

I'd go to the Wisconsin Dells. You can find hotels/water parks that are toddler friendly.
