Facial Cleansing

It has happened once again! I find a product, I love the product, and then they discontinue it!!! I am now looking for a replacement for the Dove facial cleansing pads that I was using.

A couple years ago, these were a GREAT product. They were dry pads with a scrubby side and a soothing side that you just got wet (the soap was inside). I even got my husband to use them and they were amazing on his acne, because they really scrubbed. They were so easy to travel with too. Then Dove changed, and they became damp pads (apparently people had issues with having to get them wet), and although the scrub wasn't as good, they still did the job. We had been having trouble finding them, and so tried a few others, but there are very few PADS out there, it is all towelettes that don't really scrub, just apply the cleanser, or the pads are very astringent because they are made for acne, and still don't scrub. Plus, they don't recommend the daily use. I don't have acne, just want to scrub my face. We did find Aveeno, which is okay, but the scrubbing, again, just isn't very good.

Does anyone have any product or suggestion for me to try? A wash or towelette just doesn't do it for me, because I have used the pads afterwards, and see the dirt on the pad.

Update: Yes, I have visited the Dove website and they have discontinued all their facial cleansing products. I had just thought it was our store that doesn't do a great job of stocking, so I was doing to ask Dove and saw their "apology" on their site.

What can I do next?

I have tried Aveeno facial pads and they sound just like the Dove ones. I will be honest I cannot recall if you need to add water or not but they were soapy enough either way. Maybe try them! Good luck! If you buy them at a place like CVS or Rite Aid and save your receipt and don’t like them you can usually return them.

You could use a Buff Puff Gentle with a regular cleanser--I love CeraVe.

Have you contacted Dove to see if the product is still available (though it may not be on the shelves locally)?

Indianapolis is a test market for many products, and they come and go.

We were having trouble finding a product recently (dish washing soap), and I sent a message off to the company via their website, they responded with a list of local retailers who should carry it and a phone number to contact in the event we were unsuccessful.

My only other advice would be to see if you can go to a higher-end store, a dermatologist or someone that specialized in skin care to see if they have something similar or a different, similar product you can use.

Good luck!

I know you are hoping to find a new pad cleanser and I don't have a recommendation for a pad but I use Olay Regenerest Detoxifying Pore Scrub. It has little scrubby balls in it that feel great on the skin and my face feels clean afterward.

Mary Kay carries a product called Facial Cleansing Cloths as well as a Microderm Abrasion Set that would do what you are looking for. The cleansing cloths are thick and really help remove dirt and makeup from your face. The Microderm Abrasion set helps really deep clean the pores. If you are interested let me know and you can sample some of them to see if you like it. Just email me at ____@____.com or visit my website at www.marykay.com/tiffanyahlefeld I'd love to help you find something that will work for you.

i totally know what you mean! i found a facial scrub that i use that i am definitely sticking to. it is really gentle, but definitely gets the work done and a little bit goes a looooong way. I wash my face with it and a wash cloth and i can definitely see the dirt and stuff coming off. To get rid of nasty oily skin in the morning, i use witch hazel and a cotton ball, or, if you prefer the pads, get generic tucks pads. i know, i know. its supposed to for hemorrhoids. But all it is, is witch hazel on little pads!
