I don't know if anyone can help me but I am so lost and starting to feel real worthless. I can't find a job that will support day care costs. I have been thinking about a post office job since they seem to pay pretty well and more than likely give holidays off. I was just wondering if anyone works for the post office or knows someone who does. I know I would have to take a test to even qualify but that about all I know about it. I would really appreciate some advice I can't even explain how stressed and depressed I am; I have a college degree but It seems I am not good enough for any job anymore. :(

What can I do next?

Hi K. -
Things will get better.

My best advice is to get to the root of the issue quickly and find solutions. The movie "The Secret" explains solutions wonderfully and you'll have a great job within a few days (or less) once you've seen it. Not kidding.

Good luck to you! - L.

Hello K.,
Wow! It sounds like I wrote that...I am in the exact position u are. I too have a degree in Business Admin/HR and have been looking for 5months now. I share your depression and lonliness as well. I have no family or friends here maybe 1 or 2 but none I hang out with often enough. Have you registered with any of the temp agencies? What about Monster.com? What is your degree in? Maybe I can keep my eyes open for you, if I know what field u want to get in and that pays well. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the postoffice. Email me priviately and we can talk. Take care and pray! Maybe it is not our time to be away from our children yet.....

My Brother-in-Law works for the post office and they do pay fairly well, and you do get holidays off. (A LOT OF HOLIDAYS!) However, keep in mind that when you start you are considered "Part Time" until you receive a regular assigned route. Some times it can take up to 2 to 3 YEARS to get an assigned route. Until then, they may use you 2 days a week, may use you only 4 hours a day, or they may use you Monday -Saturday. Once you have an assigned route you work on a rotating schedule. Basically you always have Sunday off, the other day changes so that week 1 you get Monday off, week 2- Tuesday, week 3- Wednesday...

If you want to look at another company I've been told pays very well, check out www.capgroup.com and see what jobs they currently have you might qualify for. My friends husband works there and says it takes them a long time to hire people once they've applied, but once you in, you have indefinite job security. My friend said that they pay well, have EXCELLENT benefits, and are very family accommodating. Hope it helps, -J

Hello K.

I just joined Mama Source and so far really like it! I saw your post and thought I would drop you a line of opportunity. I am a 36 yrs old have two boys & a work at home mom that struggled to get here. I have worked for Corporate & Small business world as an Accountant for 15 years. I went through some hectic times with my last Job dealing with all the office politics. I hated it and was on a search to be my own boss and not have to report to anyone.

I found a great business opportunity in the HBC Magazine that really caught my attention. I wanted to make sure when I started my own business it was making a difference in others lives. Helping them grow in their business as well as a person. I have a Unique Greeting Card Postcard service that is online and run from your PC. I network it out to Hair Salons, Realtors, Insurance Brokers Etc. Pretty much anyone that keeps in touch.

Everyone sends cards everyone needs referrals, and we all need to say Thank you from time to time reach out on a more personal level making other feel special. Long Story short I check into it and immediately saw huge potential. I was putting a part time effort into it because I was working full time for someone else.

A month into it I was already making more from my home business then my hourly wages, which was 40+ hrs out of my home @ $23.50 an Hour, I couldn't believe it. Not only was I making a great income it was growing and not going to stop.

So I decided when my kids got out of school for summer I was going to go into it full time. I gave notice at my job and left the outside work force. I am now making even more and love my job. No stress no heartache no office politics or dictation on my salary and hours it’s all up to me.

The best part is my income wont stop tomorrow if I take the day off to spend with my family it will still come in everyday regardless. I am home with my boys for the first time ever and headed to financial freedom.

I spent $1,000.00's in the past looking for something so I could work from home and never found it. I can honestly say I have now finally got it and want to share it with others because it is great! I am doing now Today My Way!!! My next goal is to bring my husband home to work with me. We are close to reaching that goal…

Hi K.,
I you don't mention what type of work you do or what your education is in, but the county, city, and state all offer pretty good wages and move you up fairly quickly.

county: www.co.clark.nv.us
go to human resources and start applying online or come in and pick up an app.

I have always recommended to friends that are looking for a job to go to JobConnect. They are great. Many of my friends have found jobs through them...even my husband. He lost his job when the company he worked for decided to contract out his job. Now he has a job he loves 100 times better then before. He gets paid more now, has less stress and he even got promoted his second week there. I am not sure where they all are but this is their Nevada website http://www.nevadajobconnect.com/

Why not have your own family daycare? I know it is not for everyone, but if you enjoy kids, your child will be with you and you can bring in a few kids. You have to really love this job. I have my own daycare and join other daycare owners in the area for playtime at the park and field trips. IT is great conversation and great for the kids. It will take a month or so depending on how quickly you get your house babysafe. Good Luck

K.,
Have you thought about teaching? I don't know what the laws and stuff are in LV, but here in ca they are desprite for teachers. There are a couple different programs that let you earn your credentials while teaching, the only requirements are that you have a degree and you pass the basic exams. Thats what I will be doing come september. I have been a stay at home mom (kinda while I finished school) and am really excited about teaching. Here in ca you get a salary that is broken into 12 months, even though you only work 9. So a 48,000 salary would get 4,000 a month even in the summer when your not working. You still get summer vcacation, thanksgiving, christmas vacation, and lots of other holidays that other people dont. It works great because the hours match with you child school (at least he doesnt have to be in daycare from 8-5 every day. My schedule will be 7:30-1:30 so my mom will drop her off at preschool at 9am and then I can pick her up at 2. good luck!If you're not sure where to start, call the school district office near you and ask them about it. They should know which programs are being used.

Hi Kim,
not sure if you found something you love doing yet, however this is a great way to still be at home with the little ones while meeting new people and earn an income.
I have 2 young boys and this has given me the freedom to work at home, earn money for the family and meet new girlfriends and business partner. You do not have to do parties...
