My daughter NEVER runs a fever w/ her ear infections. She has actually went to well visits and they've discovered them.
My 3 year old started complaining about one of his ears hurting and I'm trying to decide to take him to the pediatrician tonight or wait until tomorrow morning ( they open half a day on Saturday's) he just finished amoxicillan for a sinus infection and his ears were fine. He still has a little congestion but otherwise okay.
Thanks everyone! We are back from the pediatrician and his ears are fine he is just really congested.

Possibly the sinus pressure is still there and causing pain in his ears - or he now has an ear infection that the amoxicilin didn't wipre out. For now, I'd treat with motrin - maybe steam or vaporizer if he's still congested.
He may need something stronger..!!! They don't have to have a fever to have an ear infection....This was the case for my first two...sometimes a fever and sometimes not. Glad he can communicate. Or if his sinuses are very bothersome that can cause a lot of pressure in the ear and it will hurt too.
I would go ahead and take him in.
My 6 year old never runs fever with ear infections only complains about her ears hurting.
If he is still congested it could be backing up into his ears thus causing both pain and infection.
I would take him in to have his ears checked and that way if it is an infection then he can begin treatment. Until then Motrin or Tylenol for the pain.
I just took my daughter to the doctor today (for an immunization) and he happened to look in her ears, and she had an ear infection. She had no fever, and no other symptoms at all. I was quite surprised! I never would have guessed she had an ear infection.
If he says his ears hurt, I would take him in. Good luck.
I would take him in to have it checked, especially with the recent sinus infection. But it is possible that it is just the way his ear is. One of my older girls would wake up every day complaining her ear hurt, then no complaints for a while and then again. Never any fever. The doc never found any fluid in her ear either. It was just the way she slept and sensivity to the sounds in her environment. She eventually grew out of it.
My kids never had fever's their ear infections! We are the process of going to the ENT because of this one long ear infection. Amoxicillan does not cut it for my boys. Hope he is feeling better soon!
This might not be the case but I heard that RSV and Bronchitis is going around this year. Kids get ear infections all the time so it's probably not that but ear infection/pain can be a symptom of RSV. I would think you could wait until tomorrow if that's his only symptom.
Our doc usually has us wait 48 hours before they'll see us for an ear ache. It could be a pressure build up. Treat with Motrin (it'll be far worse while he's sleeping) and give them a call if it doesn't change or he gets a fever.
