My son (22 months)had more than 8 ear infections in the past 7 months with around 10 doses of antibiotics.First I blamed myself ,as i`m working so he has to go to daycare, that`s the reason for so many ear infections.I quit my job & he is not going to daycare anymore, still he got one infection & this time it`s the worst one.He is in lot of pain.

I want some help about ear tube insertion & chiropractor adjustment.Moms who have gone thru the same please share your experiences and also recommend me good chiropractor & ENT doc in Naperville. Please also let me know ,what exactly the chiropractors do & how many sessions/sittings it usually takes.
Thanks a lot friends.

Poor little guy!! I highly recommend Dr. Richard Whitney in Naperville ###-###-#### - www.whitneychiropractic.com). He has adjusted my daughter since she was 3 months old (now 18 months). He cleared up her torticollis in a matter of 2 weeks! She had 1 wicked ear infection at 10 months... on her 2nd round of antibiotics I had him adjust her immediately and we've no infections since! He (and the other doctor in the practice) are great with her! Please let me know if you have more questions!!

I took my son to Dr. Donat at Edwards Hospital. He did an excellent job with the tubes. My son had them put in on March 13th and hasn't had an ear infection since. My doctor always told me that a child being in daycare doesn't cause ear infections, my son normally got them after he had a bad cold which he did get at daycare, and you can't really prevent a cold no matter where your child is. Good luck.

I just wanted to share my experiences with you. I have 2 sons, one that is 3 and one that just turned 1. I have been home since the oldest was born, breastfed him until 11 months old and nobody around him smokes. In the last 12 months he had 14 ear infections. So don't blame yourself at all for him being in daycare as the cause. I was sent to an ENT who seemed very caring and friendly in St.Charles. We liked him but didn't want to get tubes unless absolutly necessary. We were told he needed them. We decided to try a chiropracter first. We have been going 3 times a week (for about 3 months) and now we are down to 2 times a month. The chiropracter we see is in Elburn and took what insurance offers and then 500.00 for the entire family as long as we comitted to a year of care. I'm sure it depends some on insurance but this seems very reasonable to me. My oldest has not had an ear infection since we started going. My youngest has had 2 ear infections and still has fluid. Did my oldest outgrow the problem? or did the chiropracter help??? We are not sure but we avoided tubes and that was our goal. The chiropracter first scanned all of our spines to check were the damage is, then we all get adjustments each time we go in. The adjustment is slightly uncomfortable to me, so I am guessing it is the same for the kids. Just the pressure more than anything. It takes your breath away. I hope this helped. If you want the ENT's or chiropracters #, or have any qustions for me let me know. You can e-mail and I will even give you my # if you want to talk in person. Good luck with your decision. I know it is not fun.

Neither of my kids ever really had issues with ear infections. I was told before I had my first that you always have to make sure they are sitting very upright when they drink anything. Otherwise the fluid runs back and can cause ear infections. Not sure if this is true, however like I said neither of my had this issue.

Hope the little one is feeling better real soon,
E.

I don't really have any advice. Just thought I'd write to tell you we went through the EXACT same thing with my older son right around the same age!! We stopped day care at about that age just like you and he got his worst infection yet soon after. Strange. But that was his LAST infection I want to say. He didn't get any this year and he now turned 3 about a month ago. I do home day care now and there's just less germs because it's less kids. And I think he maybe outgrew the infections. I don't know, but I'm very glad not to CONSTANTLY be at the doctor and doing antibiotics anymore!!! So just wanted to give you hope that next year may be a TON better. When he was at that stage, I asked about tubes/seeing an ENT and the doctor said to just wait it out because it was the end of the season, even though he was over the number of infections that they usually gage sending to an ENT. Here you are at the end of the season too, so you MAY want to wait til next season to see if he continues to get infections. Mine didn't, hopefully your son won't either. Best wishes to you! I know how frustrating it is!!

It is unfortunetly a very common surgery anymore. My 6month old son just had the surgery 2 weeks ago today. Do I recommend it? Hard to say. My little baby was on antibiotics for a straight 2 1/2 months. That can't be good right? So I said let's do the surgery. Even though this baby was such a happy baby and slept through the night with double ear infections. I just couldn't bear thinking about the long term effects of these ear infections and antibiotics. So he had the surgery and for almost 2 weeks he was not my happy baby anymore. Arching his back, waking up screaming at the top of his lungs several times in the night. I was in tears, what had I done. He is getting better though. He only woke up twice last night. Yesterday he only woke up once and he was a happy baby all day long. The surgeon was excellent but he is through Dreyer at Provena Mercy so that wouldn't help you. He called me himself to answer my questions this week because of how he was acting. You don't get that very often anymore. Needless to say, no more ear infections so far. Everyone else I have ever talked to could not say enough about the surgery. That it went from an immediate change for the better. I still even through my problems would highly recommend it because I know my experience was very abnormal.

I have one son who has tubes (done by Dr. Donat), they helped immediately and he's had only one ear infection in the last 3 yrs (he got tubes at 1). It's worked well for him, and we were very happy we did it as there were some 'residue' issues in his ears that would have affected his hearing for a long time.

My older son see a pediatric Chiropractor for allergy and lung issues... we couldn't be happier with him. His name is Dr. Charles Majors and we didn't find him till after our younger son had tubes. He is known for helping kids with ear infections as well. He's located off weber and 135th. If you need more info, please contact me.
