I live in NJ and was wondering in what states is it required to get your child the flu shot before enrolling in daycare?
NJ requires pre-k to get a flu shot unless you have an egg allergy. My daughters school says they need it before December 31st.
It can depend on the state. We can easily get exemption, here in TX. Look up your vaccination laws. Any school, daycare, business, etc... can say it's required in their policy...but that doesn't mean it's legally required. You might be required to get a form, to be exempt.
not required in OK my daughter has never had the flu shot and i WONT let her get the swine flu shot..i've had more problems getting them than not
Not in NY, yet I would get it anyway. Why take a chance? My son had his already this year and it includes the swine flu vaccine in one.
It depends on the state, but it's a good idea to, daycares are a melting pot of all types of germs and viruses being spread around.
No state run facility (one that operates in part with public funds or receives local/fed tax breaks) can discriminate based on vaccines. You just have to send in the standard immunization form...Leave the vaccine stuff blank and sign in the spot that basically says you are a conscientious objector.
Privately owned and operated daycares and pre-schools can have whatever rules they want -- Including vaccines.
They can't make you get vaccines, get a form online and give it to the day care.
My boys didnt get flu shots this year, we are in texas and it isnt required.
Not in MN~ I do home childcare here and it is not required. I am a provider and have never had a flu shot myself nor has my now teenage daughter.
Some states require it. Some don't. Some day care places require it. Some don't. We get out shots every year.

Hepatitis A vaccine
Beginning September 1, 2010 all children born on or after January 1, 2009 who attend a child day care center, group day care home, or family day care home ages 12–23 months are required to have one dose of the Hepatitis A vaccine; two doses are required for those aged 24 months and older.
Influenza Vaccine
By January 1, 2011 and each January 1 thereafter, children aged 6–59 months attending a child day care center, group day care home, or family day care home are required to receive at least one dose of influenza vaccine between September 1 and December 31 of the preceding year. If children are vaccinated during August with the upcoming seasonal flu vaccine, these vaccinations will be accepted and count toward the mandate requirement. All children aged 6–59 months who have not received vaccination against influenza previously should receive 2 doses of vaccine the first influenza season that they are vaccinated. Children enrolling between January 1 and March 31 are required to receive influenza vaccine prior to daycare entry. Children enrolling after March 31 during any given year are not mandated to meet the influenza vaccine requirement until the following January, as the influenza season has generally passed by this date and vaccine may no longer be available.
