Do You Have a Secret Nerdy Side?

I do! lol. I love to watch and read anime and other comic books and stuff like that. (Especially the stuff made for high-school students. lol) I kept it secret for a long time, heck, most of my friends don't even know about this secret vice. My fiance only found out about 6 months ago, he teases me about it a little (in good fun...) I know it's nothing to be "ashamed" of, and I'm not really, it's just not something that I broadcast. Sooo... what "secrets" do you indulge in that the world in general doesn't know about? :)

What can I do next?

I am a huge nerd that doesn't have the energy (or inclination) to hide it. I love both the book and the movie, Lord of the Rings. I have gone so far as to study a little Old English so that I could understand the Elivish language (some day, I will look into Welsh).

I'm a shamelessly public nerd. I love Star Trek, read fairy tales, still have my unicorn figurines displayed in my home, read science fiction, fantasy, and love insects. I no longer have a dead bug collection on my walls, but I still stop and look at interesting ones when I'm walking somewhere. I love to read Anglo-Saxon and Victorian literature and love history.

If I do anything "secret" it is read romance novels. That started sometime during my first pregnancy (probably because I felt completely un-sexy being pregnant), and still read them. In secret. And keep them in our bedroom. I do enjoy them, but don't advertise it, and I still read all the other stuff I love. :)

I embraced my inner nerd as a teenager and never looked back. I had a head start; my parents pretty much started me on Star Trek reruns at birth. I like some anime but fantasy and science fiction is my favorite. Come to a convention sometime, it is a great way to meet other "nerds" with similar interests.

It's not too much of a secret. I love Star Wars, Harry Potter, Xena, The Last Airbender, Torchwood, etc.. My 3yo son has already been instructed that when he's old enough to buy me Mother's Day gifts, no jewelry or flowers for me. Buy me Star Wars action figures! I'm making our costumes for Halloween this year - we'll be Dora and Diego - and I realized I'm basically cosplaying them. *facepalm* I can't wait until he's old enough to get into The Last Airbender, because I want to be Toph, and he'd make a cute Aang. I'll even shave his head! I made a Lando Calrissian outfit for him for his first Halloween. He looked awesome.

Also, I read lots of fanfiction. Used to write it, but haven't ever since the "padawan" came along. Hopefully someday I will again. I even discovered that there's Wiggles fanfiction out there. I'm sure there's also Dora and Diego, but I'm not interested in reading it.

When all of my Star Wars friends became parents, our big discussion was at what age and in what order to show the movies to our kids. This was like THE most important parenting decision we would make!

Well, I'm not into anime like you, but I love watching the Disney channel with my children more than watching adult programming. LOL. And I love reading children's books (or almost any books), watching "Star Trek" reruns, watching Star Wars, watching "Roswell" reruns... I've been a bit of a nerd my whole life, though. LOL. However, only family and close friends know me well enough to know my interests because I'm shy.

Me and hubby are the biggest geeks of all time! We try not to miss Comic Con and if I had my way I also would be at those Renaissance festivals! I'm in my late 40's. You know that somewhere deep down, I'm still 16 years old ... young at heart and lightness of being is nothing to be ashamed of! Very cute post by the way.
