So What Happened?

Yippie, it's NOT eczema! Yikes, it's ringworm!
Thank you for all your suggestions. I did find a wonderful and friendly (so rare nowadays!) dermatologist in Bolingbrook at NaperBrook Dermatology by the name of Dr. Bharati Chittineni (aka Dr. "C"). The intial diagnosis was made at one of those walk-in clinics who suggested to go see a dermatologist. The minute she inspected the rash, she said it was ringworm, to which I almost fell off the seat. Okay, I know it does NOT INVOLVE ANY KIND OF ACTUAL WORM (thank heavens!), but still, it kind of freaked me out. It's a fungus that is everywhere and can be picked up easily, especially by kids and it's related to athlete's foot. It's no surprise that it showed up just days after swimming at our local public pool (wear those flip flops in the locker rooms!~)At least that's where I'm guessing it got picked up at. Though, kittens and puppies can transmit it to humans....and it's relatively contagious, it has to be pretty close contact like skin to skin, from what I understand. Anyhow, after about 48 hours of being on topical ointment she'll no longer be contagious, and no one else here has shown any sypmtons. It can take up to 4 weeks to treat. We go back in 2 weeks for a follow-up, to make sure it's clearing up. Thank goodness it didn't spread to other parts of her leg or body! I've heard about this, but have never seen it before, nor do I care to ever again. THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE, I'm so glad to have this community to turn to.

I don't know anything about your daughters condition and we do not see a dermatologist on a regular basis, however we have been to a Dr. Tehming Liang for a few things over the years and I would go back to him if needed. His address is 580 E Boughton Rd in Bolingbrook ####-###-####. Good luck I know it's important to find someone you and your daughter like if you are going to be seeing him for a while. As I recall he does have a strong accent and is a little hard to understand but will be patient with you.

My son has seen Dr. Wagner at Children's Memorial Hospital (Westchester location). We were referred to her by his pediatrician. He had eczema and also had a growth that had to be surgically removed with 2 surgeries. We loved her and recommend her. Good luck.
