Daughter Poops on Potty, but Won't Pee!

Hey ladies! My almost 2 year old daughter has been pooping on the potty this past week, by her choice. She really wants to be a big girl, and loves her big girl undies. She's got the opposite problem of most kids, though -she likes to poop in the potty, she can hold her pee forever, but it's the letting the pee go that freaks her out. I KNOW she's gotta go (she'll hold the pee for 3 hours) and we'll be sitting in the bathroom and it starts to come out and she freaks out and tries to get off the potty. I've tried the running water, big deep breaths (she loves this!), drinking lots. Any ideas out there? I know she's young, but she's been showing all the signs of readiness for several months and we've actually been following her lead in all of this!

I would read her "Once a upon Potty" for girls. My daughter loved it and I read it everytime she sat on the potty, to get her to stay on the potty. The great thing is you can change the words to what you have been using. Good luck! H.

Hi S.!
A trick for my just 3 year old that has worked for a while is to sing the ABC's and when you get to the P, then you pee! If she knows how to sing or just likes to hear it, that could be a trick. Good luck!

this trick worked with my little sister (she's 16 years younger than me - we have different mom). she was the same way... hated to have a poopy diaper, so she was poop trained a few months before she was pee trained.

anyway, she had the same "fear" of letting her pee out, so what her mother did was go get those blue toilet tablets. anyway, when you pee it makes the water green... so she would love, love, love to go potty so she could see the water change color.

You could try turning her backwards. My son loved to watch the "bubbles" form as the pee hit the water.
