Daughter and Scalp Issue

My son has the same issue, Seborrheic Dermatitis. I took him to five dermatologists (because his hair was falling out in clumps...bald spots all over his head). We started doing the tar shampoo and all sorts of conventional things. I failed to take a look at alternatives because I panicked. I'm a holistic health nutritionist, so I chilled out I gathered the information I needed to get a handle on this properly. Seborrheic Dermatitis shows up because of an overgrowth of yeast. When it shows up in a child that is so young, it can be traced back to either parent having had yeast problems. It all comes down to diet. Take out diary and gluten. It's a process, but an important one. See this as a gift, because this can lead to huge issues in the future.

Ask that your daughter rinse her hair after being in the chlorine. The "dryness" comes from the water evaporating and leaving the chemical on the scalp. Not a big deal for them- they will probably require her to shower off before getting in the pool, so they should be able to have her do the same getting out! She's too little to be responsible for putting on her own oils, but you could also have her wear a hat to keep her from getting too much sun, which can dry out the skin as well. The counselor should be having her put on sunscreen, so you may have your daughter practice rubbing some on her scalp as well!

I am not a doctor, but I have read that conventional shampoos have many irritants that can exacerbate a problem.
Not sure about the chlorine, but I would definitely switch shampoos/soap....

my suggestion would be to use a shampoo with a nice concentration of Melaleuca Oil in it (just visit www.melaleuca.com) not only the Oil will treat the Seborrheic Dermatitis issue, it will be a natural repellent for prevention of lices while she is at camp; hope this helps!!!

So many skin problems can be caused by diet. I am a firm believer in you are what you eat. Is it possible she has a dairy, or wheat allergy. It may be worth looking into. Before you put her through expensive allergy testing why not try through process of elimination. Remove dairy from her diet for a while and see if it improves and the same with wheat. There are so many gluten free products today that can be purchased anywhere. Just a guess but it may be worth a try. Good luck!

I would open an account with me of course...they make a product called Renew and is the best lotion I have ever seen..
