I am looking for a counselor who deal with teens. I have a 15 yr old who is going thru depression and he needs to see a counselor per his psych. doctor. I found a counselor that I really like but the only thing is that he is out of network and it is so expensive. Right now my husband is the only one working so we need to find one that is in our network and within our budget. We have Aetna HMO and I live near Champion Forest Area. I really would want a male counselor I think he feels more comfortable talking to them.

He previouly had a female counselor and I felt that she just could not get him to talk to her. She tried her best but he would just sit there like a bump on a log. With the male counselor he actually spoke and told him some of the things that were bothering him.

I would appreciate any information any one can provide.

What can I do next?

Try Grace Point Marriage ad Family Center at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, ###-###-####. They have a male counselor and I am pretty sure they except insurance. I used to work their and the staff is great! Another option, although he does not take insurance but is AWESOME, is Dr. Greg Ryan. He is a pscyhologist who also works as a LSSP for Tomball ISD. His website is www.charistexas.com

Hi E.,

Please look into taking him to Eduardo Salazar (sp 1st name), he's with Compass Counceling. I don't have his # off the top of my head, but I'm sure I could find it for you. He's recently moved his office, but I do believe that he's off of 1960 between Champions/Willowbrook Area.

Anyway, he's incredible, and probably saved my son's life. He is kind, gentle, and doesn't push them. He really let's them come around on their own time and at their own pace. He's got a wonderful philophsy (sp) and only works with children and teens I believe.

Good luck, and let me know if you need anything else, or help finding him.

E., call Shield Bearer Counseling Centers. I know the female counselor there- her name is Angela, and she is great, but there is a male on staff as well. Their cost is based on a sliding scale, which means, the less you make, the less you pay. They are faith based (both Christian counselors) Their number is ###-###-####. Their office is on Jones, north of FM 1960. Good luck!
