I just started looking for daycare for my 14mth old daughter. Although I knew it would be expensive.. i'm still suprised at the cost. I wanted to know how much you all pay. I found a great home day care center that charges $225/week for fulltime. Just wondering if this is normal. This is in the Glendale area. When I"m paying $1400 in rent, $900 seems like a lot.

My mom has an at home daycare and for that age, full time is about 140-160 depending on drop off/pick up hours. She is in the LA area.
I have a 14 mo old son. $175 - $300 per week seems to be the going rate lately.
My infant (now 11 months) is at a licensed (Christian) childcare center. I pay $750/month for care 6a-6p. I supply diapers/wipes/formula. They provide care & food (though I send her special snacks to school). They also have a curriculum and do start as young as the infant room with preparing the children for school. They also potty train and have a discount for siblings. This is in the Greater L.A. area (110 fwy/Manchester exit). Also, the campus is very secure.
I'm a daycare provider in Norwalk & that amount sounds like it's for an infant. My rates are high, but I always end up negotiating with parents. You could try negotiating and make sure the provider follows all licensing laws.
