I have been on Yasmin for 3 years, I never had any problems. I switched to Ocella afew years ago and again no problems. I just had my second child, whom is now 6 months old. I have not started back on birth control yet because of all the lawsuits out there on the pills for blood clots, stroke, heart attack & deep vein thrombosis.

I am 25 years old and consider myself in overall good health. My blood pressure is good (although lately has been high due to sicknesses going around the household). My triglycerides are high but have not been taken since 2008. My cholesterol is a little high too. I am not overweight or obese.

I am very concerned because of the lawsuit that is out there for Yaz/Yasmin/Ocella. I have 2 kids and I cannot imagine my life without them. I know most people will say to contact my doctor, which I plan to do anyways, but I was wondering if anyone here had any other advise.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Have you ever considered natural family planning? I used it and only have 1 child on purpose. (Lots of my friends used it in order to get pregnant and they have more children.) What's nice is NFP is 100% effective if followed properly, no harmful side effects and it increases intimacy between partners because of the communication needed to make it work. The training is free too! Marriage Works! Ohio has a representative that will meet with couples. Call toll free (866) 548-3271 and ask for Alex, the NFP Instructor. They will take your information and have her call you. It's the best thing I ever did for my body and for my relationship!

Before my first child I used the patch with no problems at all. I loved it. However, I didn't go back on it because of all the lawsuits and possible side effects. I tried several pills including Yaz (it was the worst) but they all gave me horrible side effects I was not willing to live with. I did some research and read Take Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It is natural birth control and I love it. (It's free too once you buy your thermometer!)

Good health is a gift. Our chemistry should not be imbalanced by ingesting artificial birth control. There is a natural way to space pregnancy: through Natural Family Planning (NPF). Look this up on the internet or at a local Catholic parish or pregnancy center (NOT Planned Parenthood!). The information is for everyone. It brings you and your spouse closer together, as you work as a couple to achieve your family goals. Good luck, and God bless you both.

I'm considering the Nuva ring, haven't used it yet though. It's the same hormones as birthcontrol pills but absorbed vaginally. You replace it once each months, take out the start your period and put a new one in a few days later.

Try another pill if you are that concerned. There are plenty of them out there, so you should be able to find one that you like!
