Child/Adolescent Psychologist Recommendation Needed - Mckinney/Frisco Area

Could anyone recommend an AWESOME child psychologist in the Mckinney/Frisco area? Plano/Allen are fine too! Someone that is not just a pill pusher and will thoroughly evaluate our 11yo boy for ADD or Autism or related issues. Also, if anyone has a really great resource for info on this, I would appreciate hearing your story!
My 11 yo is a 6th grader this year and is really struggling with the transition. He is having such a hard time with paying attention in class and remembering to do homework that it is just too painful to watch and not change my way of thinking. I don't want my old-fashion mindset or stubborness to be his downfall when it comes to getting the help he may need.

What can I do next?

Hi SQ,
This referral comes from a friend of mine who raves about this clinic....apparently Dr. Clement trained/worked under Dr. Amen in California...if you haven't heard of Dr. Amen you will want to research him. She says there is everything at this clinic, even brain scans, etc. This is where I would definitely start.

Todd clements with the clements clinic.

Contact the Brain Lab at the University of North Texas. They have had astounding results with detoxing (one kid was allergic to Raid and the school had been using it) and with Biofeedback Therapy. The beauty of the Biofeedback Therapy is that your child learns how to control his brain waves so that his brain functions more normally. That way perhaps he won't need medication for the long-term.

Good morning,
I would highly recommend you contact Dr. Jonathan Walker in N. Dallas. He is an expert in ADD/ADHD and does neurofeedback treatments, not just pills.
My husband was diagnosed as ADD and did the neurofeedback treatments, which really helped him.
It was wonderful to see a doctor who didn't give him meds right off the bat.
Call & make an appointment for an evaluation.
Your son deserves it and you won't be disappointed.
Good luck!

Hi. I also highly recommend Dr. Jonathon Walker. He specializes in analyzing the brain activity and then providing therapy to help train the brain to operate more optimally. Although he is able to prescribe meds he is not a pill pusher. He is much more interested in the long term solution that can be med free and fully functioning. My son is younger than yours but we have just started with Dr. Walker. I anticipate great things, but I know first hand from my friend whose son is 12 and has had huge success. His ADHD was so severe he had trouble writing, running, throwing a football etc... Now he is doing great and almost totally off medication. I will warn you that Dr. Walker's office is a bit dated and his bedside manner is not the greatest, but they are just there to help your child- not impress with a lavish office.

Good Luck to you!

I'm living in your world! My soon to be 13 yr old was diagnosed with AD/HD Oct08. To get started with evaluation / diagnosis please call JoLynn Wilburn, educational diagnostician. ###-###-####. She is awesome!!

Dr. Todd Clements, Clements Clinic, trained with Dr. Daniel Amen and specializes in ADD and related issues. He's VERY cautious with meds and starts with the minimum dose possible. He's got a team of therapists, etc on staff as well. I would highly recommend him. Hope this helps!
