My little guy is almost six months old and weighs about 16lbs. I have him in a "pumpkin" seat know but I want to look into a convertible seat. I know Britax is the best but it is expensive. Does anyone know where to get it at the best price.

What can I do next?

I recommend the Britax, but always keep him rear facing for a MINIMUM of one year, and it is now recommended to keep kids rear facing for as long as they are within the weight that the seat will hold. Even if they have to sit with bent legs, I have been told by the Fire Dept that does installs that it is FAR better to have a leg injury than to withstand a head/neck/spinal injury that is seen more often with children facing forward before 30-40+ pounds. I would alos go with the one with the highest weight limit that you can afford...Marathons are more expensive than the Roundabout but go to a higher weight. I would definately look all over the web for discontinued fabrics, they always sell for quite a bit less. You ca also look for one of the '15% off any item' coupons with Babies R Us, it would save you about $40. I bought by Marathons at BRU during sales and discounts, but bought our new infant Companion with side impact protection online at BRU.com for a better price with free shipping. I have also heard that there is another brand carseat that sells for less that is actually a Britax, only manufactured under another brand name....can't remember what the name is, but they were alot less $..... The running stroller in Palm Harbor area sells them too and will give you 10% off if you are a local pickup...

I found Babies R Us to have the better price and a bigger selection. Target has Britax too but they were a little higher and only one style and level to pick from. Hope that helps.

I also love the Britax seats, both my son (who's almost 3) and my daughter (8mths) are both in them ! You may want to try eBay as I've researched them and found ALOT online there..The great part about these carseats is that even if you feel a little weird about a used seat (not knowing WHAT has been on the fabric), with Britax you can purchase additional/new covers which are also on eBay at a very reasonable price.

Good luck on your search !!

I found mine at froogle.com. You type in Britax and which kind you want (we got the Marathon) and it gives you all of the places that sells them and the how much it costs at each one. 2 of my friends and I got ours off sites on there, we were able to find them about $80 cheaper because they discontinued the fabric. And the site I found had free shipping. Good luck in your search :)
