We are expecting baby #3 this July. Our older kids will be 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 when this baby comes. We already have a minivan and need to find a second car that can fit 3 carseats. We really would love to have a car or SUV that gets good gas mileage as well as has lots of room. We would mostly use our minivan with the three kids, but there will be times when the second car will need to be able to fit all three. Our second car currently is a Nissan Altima, so that will definitely not work! Does anyone have a vehicle that's not a minivan and fits 3 carseats??

What can I do next?

My sister has a Mazda and their second car is an Altima (she's a SAHM and the Altima is used by my BIL for work). The Mazda fits up to eight people (seats in back fold down when not in use) and will hold the 3 carseats. A DVD player is optional and in my sister's car you can use the phone without really touching anything. My parents have a truck and a minivan while I have a 2002 Corolla which is my first car.

We have a Chevy Traverse and love it. It comes as a 7 or 8 seater. 7 seater (middle row has 2 bucket seats) and 8 seater (middle row is bench seat). It's a great roomy vehicle that rides like a car.

Most SUVs you get will hold 3 car seats but you'll have to put up the 3rd row and then someone would have to climb over the middle row or go in through the back, not always ideal. We looked a lot at the Chevy Traverse which is sort of car/minivan-ish, in my opinion. Our neighbor just bought a Ford Flex and they don't have young kids but I checked it out and it's super nice! It could easily hold 3 car seats. They got bucket seats in the second row and they fold up so people can go in and out of the 3rd row, it was cool!

Our SUV has a third row. It's not easily accessible, so we don't use it often and usually put the biggest/oldest child in the back. However it does fit three car seats if needbe.

My husband was reluctant to give up his "nice" car, so we agreed on getting a used, Acura MDX SUV. I love this car and so does he. It's got a lot of the extras like a luxury car/SUV but still had a reasonable price tag.

We got one from a dealership, used, and with a warranty. It took a little shopping around, but it was WELL worth it. We got low mileage and a great vehicle for our family. I highly recommend this SUV for a family of 5!

I'm not sure about a car that fits 3 car seats, but I've heard sunshine kid car seats are narrow. It'd be cheaper to buy 3 new seat than a new car!

We have the Chevy Traverse as well and love it! With the 3rd row of seats, you can definitely fit 3 carseats, but your 4 1/2 year old will need to be able to climb over the middle seat to the back row or you will need to position the car seats so that you can fold part of either the 2nd or 3rd row of seats down.
