Can't Believe I'm Asking a Period Question- Sorry TMI.

Since having my last kid, which was by c-section ( 3 kids , all sections), I've been leaking "past" my tampon. Meaning that only the end by the string has any fluid retention, the rest is clear. I have been using the same tampons since getting my period at 13 & never had this problem. I know the obvious answer is to switch brands but what could be going on? Again, sorry for the TMI. **** I just started getting a normal period the past few months b/c had been nursing.**** I have every size of tampons they have in that brand**** Corie, yes, I feel it's a shape / size issue .****

I use super plus playtex gentle glide - with tampax, I would always leak, and regulars would pretty much fall out. I use super plus no matter what my flow rate

I would suggest a Diva Cup, or some sort of menstrual cup. I LOVE mine.

You don't have to switch brands mama! Just switch the size you're using. If you're typically using Regulars, try using Supers when you're bleeding a bit heavier. You shouldn't bleed past it.

Your flow can change after having a baby, or just naturally as you change.

*hugs*

UGH!!! I asked this very same question a while ago! lol. I used to use Tampax pearls, they were my favorite and I never had any issues. After my DD, I had the same thing. Ruined underwear, dry tampon. Gah. I experimented with different brands, and the Playtex Sport has worked the best for me so far. I also went up one level (regular to super). I don't get much leaking (maybe a drop here and there), but just to be safe I also use a panty liner. (I like the kotex best.)

I just got my somwhat normal flo back after my third she is now 15 mo old. I use the Diva Cup and was sad that the first year I had to have a pad on also for security. My last period was pretty pleasant. How long ago did you have your third. Maybe it is still just adjusting? Sry not much help but I hear ya!

I have a friend that uses two at once. I'm not sure how as I use lights no matter what and just change very frequently. Maybe that would keep from leaking? Probably not very safe though unless you could insert at same time so one doesn't get pushed up??

I switched to the Diva Cup a year and a half ago, and wish I'd known about it ages ago. No leaks, no drama. I did notice after having my kids that my flow really changed from being light to being super heavy. Also, tampons just started feeling really uncomfortable to me. Anyhow, the Diva Cup solved all of those problems for me. Give it a try - it truly changed how I feel about my period - from hating it beyond belief, to not even thinking about it.

Your flow can change...I used to have a horrible heavy flow, and my flow was always a lot worse after I had a baby. Now that my youngest is four I am back to a lighter flow, even the amount of days has fluctuated. It takes your body a while to adjust after having a baby. If it is excessively heavy and your baby is several months old I might be tempted to talk to my obgyn though.

Okay, I am SO glad you are asking this question. This has been happening to me ever since I had my daughter. She's THREE! It's so weird... Mine's not even particularly heavier than before her - I've always had annoyingly heavy flow for the first two days and never had this problem - so I think that my "shape" has changed or something. It's like it's never hitting the tampon and going straight out and the string and the pantyliner gets it all! Regular, Super, Super Plus - makes no difference for me. Haha, so strange to be talking about this. I have just been trying different tampons, but good grief, they are expensive! So far the best I've tried is Playtex Sport... It's not perfect, but better than anything else. They are super expensive, though. Good luck. Ah... The joys of motherhood! :)

Ok? Where do I find this "Diva cup" at??? Lol.....I stopped using tampons only because of the same issue, in other words it's better to be safe then sorry! Imagine if you were out somewhere and all of a sudden you leaked? That would be bad! I will use tampons once in awhile only twoards the end of my period or if i'm going out somewhere and need to dress up. But I just feel much more "safer" and comfortable using Always kotex pads...
