College textbook.

It won't be faddish
It won't be trying to sell you anything
It won't be aimed at a target audience (young adults, or vegetarians)

It will give you a WIDE range of 'healthy' diets...
- ages (childhood & adult nutritional needs are almost opposite)
- medical conditions
- activity levels (not just assuming you're doing their recommended whatever, but real levels from bed bound to 9 hours of sitting to pro athlete)
- philosophy
- cultural

I'd go to the library and look at what they have. It's been years since I had such a book and so don't know what's available now. You can ask a librarian to help you find them.

I'd also google "nutrition" to find several good places that will have nutrition info. I rely a great deal on the Internet for information. The sites are usually well organized and compact.
