Can We Talk Halloween?

Halloween is one of my best thing to do. I love putting/making my kids costume.

This year my 7 y/o wants to dress as a nerd. Should be easy enough. I already made her her over sized bow tie and will just have toe get a white button down, pocket protector and some flood waters and the taped up glasses.

My 5 y/o will be a Christmas tree. I have finished the dress part of her costume with battery operated Christmas lights and they blink!. I just need to add poms for the ornaments and make her a pointy hat with golden bow or star on top. It looks so cute on her and I love the safety feature of the lights and to top it...everything cost less than $15. Her candy bucket will be a box made to look like a present.

Share away! What are you dressing your kiddies/self for Halloween

My son is some character from Star Wars (pls don't ask me who it is...I can barely pick out a stormtrooper in a lineup), only b/c we just happened to be in the store as they were putting up their clearance items. This costume was originally $50 but we got the entire ensemble for $10 on clearance.

Halloween always makes me wish I had a girl b/c you can do so many pretty things w/their costumes. All my kid wants to be are these violent superheroes w/specific emblems and details. You are so lucky!

My husband loves making homemade costumes....
Age:
2- We made my son a Bam Bam costume (my son has super blonde hair, really blue eyes and pale skin)... Made everything... Sewed his costume, made a spiked, rope necklace and got him a big bone to carry around..
3-he was cupid.. SO CUTE ( I knew this was the last year I could pick out his costume)... He wore white linen pants, no shirt, heart tattoos on his arms, a vine around his head, the bow and arrow was made from styrofoam and a packaging box.. We painted the arrows gold and the box red... We dressed up as hearts..
4- Bakugan- this was a HARD costume for my husband to make.. Took him almost 2 months on the weekends... Got a medicine ball and paper mached it to wear it became really hard and round... Painted it green (he wanted to be a green bakugan ) the magnetic card he got a huge cardboard box and cut it... Spray painted EXACTLY what the bakugan cards look like...Attached the ball to the card and got suspenders for my son to be able to hold it up... The costume was too heavy for my son and he wore it for 2 MINUTES!!!!!! Took 2 months to make (EXTREMELY detailed) and my son cried and wanted it off.. ughhhhhh....
lol- this year we are going to the costume store and buying his outfit, lol...

My son is sold that he wants to be a devil... the odd thing is that I'm having a hard time finding a costume! I looked at Target and a Halloween store. Hopefully Wal Mart will have one!

My girl wants to be a fairy. Easy enough. Pink tutu, magic wand, glittery makeup, and wings. But not sure about my boy. He likes to be scary spooky stuff, so, maybe ill piece together some gauzy material with a hooe for a ghostie goul.

This will be the first year in 4 years that we aren't doing a theme with all of us :( Since there is not theme then I guess that means hubby and I will have to go as mom and dad.

I thought of dressing my son in red sweats and and his winter hat. (it is the type that covers everything with a cut out for the face) that looks like elmo. boom a free elmo costume, but he wants to be winnie the pooh and has to have the store bought costume. (pretty demanding for someone who just turned two lol)

Last year all four of us were Ghostbusters. That was a fun one to make! This year we are doing a Star Wars theme. My son will be Boba Fett and my daughter will be Princess Leia. We aren't completely certain who hubby and I will be. Thank goodness there are plenty on websites dedicated to this. We make our own costumes and I wasn't certain how I was going to pull off the bounty hunter...but I have a plan now. Happy Halloween!!

My almost 12 yo dtr is very creative. She's being some kind of scary demon thing but it has wings and a few other creative touches.

My son is almost 9 and he's going to be a warewolf.

My hubby and I were not supposed to have the kids this year, the ex's were to have them so we have 2 out of the 3. We were going to dress really bloody and scary and run around and scare all the kids. Now that we have the kids, we will still do this but probably tone it down a little since my son is way too easily scared. =)

My 4 year old is going to be Tinkerbell and my 6 month old will be Peter Pan. I didn't like any of the Tinkerbell costumes you can buy so I ordered fabric and am going to make both of their costumes. Wish me luck - I've never sewn whole outfits before - just fixed things!
