I am 36 weeks pregnant with my second child. I am going for a VBAC! I just went today for my weekly check up and since last week my baby has turned from head down to breech. I am 80% effaced and 1cm dialated.
So my question is... besides the hands and knees position... what else can I do to encourage my baby to move head down again?

What can I do next?

Hi, T.!
Congrats on your baby-to-be and for the VBAC plans!! While your little one doesn't have a whole lot of room in there it is still likely that she/he will turn by the time you reach 40 weeks. Now, technically, you are at full term at 37 weeks, so your doc may worry. Also, OB/GYNs are overcautious and always play it on the most safe side possible due to skyrocketing malpractice insurance. So, if your doc is possibly worrying you, please take it all in stride. Your doc may opt to perform an external cephalic version if you get close to your due date with no change. At home your can try postural management. Postural management hasn't been proven effective, but it's worth a try!
Here is a webmd.com link that explains:

I wish you the best of luck with your final weeks and hope you'll be holding that babe in your arms very soon!!

Find someone who does accupuncture. I know it's alternative, but it works. There is a spot on the pinkie toe ( I think ) that has been shown to turn a baby. If you need help finding one, I know an excellent woman at 90th and Roe. Good Luck!

I ended up with both of my kids being breech. When I discovered this with my first child the nurse told me to put something cold at the top of my belly (bag of frozen peas) and something warm at the bottom (heating pad) for a few nights before I was supposed to go in for the ECV. My daugther ended up turning on her own but my son did not. I have no idea if this helped as it sounds like an old wives tale. But, I know when you facing this you'll try almost anything. If it's any comfort, when I did have to do the ECV with my son it really wasn't as bad as everyone told me. Good luck!

My second daughter was breech when I went in at 34 weeks to do a 3D sonogram. She was born a week later and she had turned a couple days before. I was walking and in a lot of pain because she kept moving around...believe me I kept telling everyone she was turning and they thought I was crazy. I think your baby will turn on its own when he/she is ready.
