There are no restrictions on bringing breast milk on the plane as long as it is for your daughter's consumption- does not even have to conform to the 4 oz rule. this also applies to formula, baby food and juices for a child. We have flown several times and have been through this with airport security- you do have to declare the breast milk, milk, formula- whatever to security as you are going through an they may do extra screening- we have taken a cooler with the gel packs- the dry ice may be an issue because it is more chemically-

For better information and the clearer guidelines go the the TSA website

http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtm

You can get ice once you get through security if nothing else and can get some on the plane.

We flew to Australia and the return trip was the same rules as leaving the US- TSA sets the rules not the airline...

I bet you could use the small refreezable ice packs. They have to let you bring it b/c they would have to let ppl bring medication that needed to be cooled on the plane. Just make sure the milk is in small enough containers to be allowed thru security.

They have to allow infant food on the plane. If your child's b/m is her food, then they have to allow it, but they may make you put it in 6oz or less portions.

Did you ask the airline how you should pack the breast milk. I'm sure others have this same situation and they will know what they will allow.

Most airlines make an exception for the number of ozs. allowed for formula and breast milk as well as liquid medication. Instead of going thru the regular security line you ask to see a supervisor because you have breast milk.

Call the airline again and be persistent until you get an answer. Be sure to write down the identity of the person whose advice you follow and keep it with you. Perhaps you could send an e-mail thru customer service and that way you would have a written reply.

I just had this problem. I ended up shipping the milk ahead via Fed Ex packed in dry ice. No airline will let you carry on bags of frozen liquid or any liquid greater than 4 ounces ( oh and by the way enjoy the testing of the bottles contents when you go through security)

Check with www.tsa.gov
This is the site for all air travel rules... for "international" travel, it may differ.

Can you just direct breastfeed???

How old is your baby?

Travel to Europe... is a long flight. Just having it in a cooler with no ice, will not keep the milk chilled enough.... nor for long enough.
