My 24 year daughter has been trying to get ahold of someone in the Le Leche League to try and rent a breast pump. My daughter is going to take a summer class. My grandaughter will not take any kind of formula at all. My dauther has tried to pump with the small battery and hand pump with no success. No one will respond to her, any suggestions where or who to contact? We live in the high desert near Victorville, ca.

Does she have insurance? Many of the hospitals around here offer free consults with the lactation specialists at the hospital you delivered at. She could go up with the pump she has, they could make sure she's using it right. They could also arrange a rental and show her how to use it.
That's what I would do.. call the hospital she delivered at and ask them.

You can probably rent a breast pump from a local pharmacy or hospital. In the Chicago area we can rent from both. LLL usually doesn't rent out pumps, though they'd know where and could offer support for breastfeeding issues. Call the hospital where she delivered and ask to speak to a lactation consultant. They can also help. I nursed my daughter for 13 months and my twins for 12 months. I was never able to pump much at all. The manual hand pump ended up working the best for me overall. Everyone is different as far as pumping goes. Good luck.
Contact the hospital where she gave birth. That's where I got my pump. Also, below is the info for my lactation consultant (when I lived in the LA area). I don't know if she's close enough to you, but she may be able to refer someone that can help. She worked with me to get my son breastfeeding again after I got shingles 3 days after having him. She was great. Tell her Trish sent you.

Call the hospital where she delivered her baby.
I'm up in Oregon, and here we have a program called WIC (Women, Infants, Children).
If your daughter is attending school and isn't making much money, they will loan her a brand new one to use while in school, and possibly give it to her if she meets the financial requirements.
WIC is designed for mommas who need just a little bit of assistance, so it sounds like it would be perfect for her.

I would definitely try renting one from the hospital. Sometimes pharmacies rent them out as well. I have never hear of La Leche renting pumps but it is upsetting to hear that no one is returning your calls.
You could also check out the medela website. There is a link at the top of the page under the breasfeeding link to find a place to buy/rent close to you.
