sorry I have a lot of question today and I am a little bored! I need a good book to read. I like The Help, The Hunger games, The Maze runner, The secret life of bees, etc. Loved all the Sookie books and I am waiting for the newest one from the library but I think that will still be a couple months. Anyone have a good book to read?

What can I do next?

The Book Thief, written for young adults but good for any age.

The Space Between Us, kind of an Indian version of the Help, but much better written IMO.

Little Bee, traumatic but good.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, an easy read.

We, my wife and I, just discovered the westerns and books written by Linda Lael Miller, "A man from Stone Creek", "A Wanted Man", "The Rustler" and "The Bridegroom". It is a series. They are somewhat romantic novels and enjoyable light hearted reading. One of the things I really like is no gross profanity.

The historical fiction, The Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel starting with "Clan of the Cave Bear". It was written back in the late 70's and I love it so much I've read the series every time a new book came out.

Then there are the books by Jack London which are classics.

Good luck to you and yours.

I just read a Clive Cussler book (Adventure type), and although it wasn't really that great, I am going to try another - this time one that gets good reviews on Amazon (the one I read did not). I'm pretty picky when it comes to books - I only finish about 3/4 of the books I start. I got about 2 chapters through a Picoult book and got so annoyed I never finished it, and will never read another of her books - period! I also read about 2/3 of the way through Sarah's Key and when I about started balling uncontrollably (on the airplane next to some stranger) I gave up on that one. I thought it was poorly written, and extremely annoying as well. 50 Shades of Gray? Won't touch it with a 10 ft pole. I did like The Hunger Games (some rediculousness, but highly entertaining), and I'm just starting the 2nd book.

I recently read and LOVED Slumdog Millionaire. Also, Sarah's Key and Somebody Knows My Name were good recent reads. Hope you find something you'll like!

How about Shiver (it's the first in a three book series) by Maggie Stievafter(?). I just finished that one and have started the second.

The newest Sookie book was pretty good-I finished that a few weeks ago :)

I was thinking about the Percy Jackson series next.

Once upon a time I would have recommended Laurell K Hamilton's ANita Blake series, but the author seems to hae lost her mind. The beginning was great but the last 6 books or so... ugh...

Jodi Picoult books (I liked Vanishing Acts and Plain Truth best)

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein

Mom recommended I read the trilogy by William Nicholson. First book is called The Wind Singer. Mom recommended it b/c the life of the people of the book is similar to the life of the people of the districts in Hunger Games. I am only on chapter 3 of The Wind Singer and it's alright. I haven't gotten quite into it yet. But who knows. I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to sit down and really read a lot.

I thought Sarah's Key was a great read, sad but very interesting. I've loved all of Jennifer Weiner's books. Read the 50 Shades, poorly written, but really fun, especially with everyone I know reading them. I just read The Pillars of the Earth because I heard so many great things...really not my type of book AT ALL, but you know what...I loved it. Did take a while to get into it, but glad I stuck it out. Also The Kite Runner was excellent, as well as A Thousand Splendid Suns. I enjoy Amy Tan also, The Joy Luck Club especially.
