Hello Ladies,
My husband birthday is approaching very soon, March 9 to be exact and I'm absolutely clueless about what to get him or what to do. Any other year is pretty simple...watches, shoes, cards from the kids, out to eat, etc. However, this year is quite complicated because he's a little depressed about turning 30, he feels as though he should be a lot further in his career by now. Another issue for me is he will be on a 4 week deployment on his birthday, so I need to get his gift really, really soon. Thank you ladies in advance for your ideas. Have a wonderful Friday

What can I do next?

Does he play golf? A golf outing for four would be great.

What about a gift cert to a wine tasting or something you two can do alone or with other coulples? Night out without the kids. Do it before he goes and he will have the memories of a good time. Or plan to do it after his return. Will give him something to look forward to.

New Ipod with something enscribed like "30 Rocks! We Love you!!"

For my husbands 30th, I got him the wii (it was when they were next to impossible to find), and he had a blanket he has his whole life, I got rebonded (I think that whats it called, when you put the satin back on, around the edges), an embroidered "Happy 30th Birthday Daddy, I love you, Maggie", from our daughter, he said that was the best present he has ever got!

Since he will soon be deployed how about a romantic weekend get away? Get yourself some nice, but naughty, lingerie, book a hotel room with a hot tub and ask them to have a chilled bottle of champane in the room when you arrive.

Tell him daily how proud you are of him.

I would make arrangements for him to take a class that he will either find really fun or really helpful. When I turned 30 my husband gave me "cooking lessons" b/c I LOVE to cook and wanted to learn some of the fancier stuff. For his birthday this year I bought him "firing lessons"- he's always wanted to learn how to shoot a rifle. Random, I know- but he was so incredibly excited!

Hi JT:
It depends if you want privacy or party. For privacy, I would go to a place for honeymooners in the Poconos. For party, I would plan a surpise party at home. (I had a surprise party for my husband's 50th. I had 2 friends help me. My husband may have suspected a little "inkiling" of a couple of friends, but never to the extent that I did . We all had a ball!!! Gift wise - that's up to you.
Being deployed is really very serious, make sure whatever you decide---it better be a big memory to take with him!
