We only moved to IL a few months ago but my son is already losing his Spanish because he does not have ay Spanish-speaking friends here. Are there any Spanish-speaking play groups or clubs around? I did come across Language Stars (immersion school), but it is too expensive. Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for the responses. We are excited to have found a Spanish-only playgroup in the Naperville area. Gracias! :)

I don't know of a playgroup, but I do know of 2 venues that have spanish "classes" that are more reasonably priced. One is "Mom & me Spanish" at Studio 59 on rte 59 in Naperville. It's on 59 near 127th street. You can find info on all classes offered there at: http://www.musictogetherofnaperville.com/
Another is Artes Infantiles in Bolingbrook. Artes Infantiles offers several class options all of which are bilingual. And the teacher, Ms. Franchie, is really fun and engaging. http://www.artesinfantiles.com/
Good Luck!

G.-
Not sure if you found any groups. If so, please let me know. I am expecting any day now and will be teaching my child Spanish. I signed up at www.meetup.com but there isn't a specific Spanish speaking group. Where do you live? I am in Glen Ellyn.

I've been living in the US for a while and we speak spanish at home, what's been great for my girls (4 and 2) is that we go to a spanish church, so we have friends with kids that just speak spanish.
Plus, we just speak spanish at home, and it's working.
Good luck!

Hi G.: You put up a great post I have never thought about posting on mamasource about this. Let me know if you find anything, my daughter and I are fluent in Spanish but my 4 year old son does not know a lick of Spanish and I need help teaching him. When I talk to him in Spanish he says "What did you say?" No one in his preschool speaks Spanish so it gets hard to teach him because he doesn't know what I'm saying. Good luck.
