Best Meal Replacement for Weight Loss

I need to lose 8 to 10 lbs. I have 4 & 2 yr. old kids and don't get enough sleep (not for lack of trying). When I'm tired, I feel hungry and don't feel like exercising. Plus, I don't have a lot of motivation to plan meals. Soooo, I need a mindless method to kick-start my weightloss and am going to try a meal-replacement plan for 2 meals a day, just for a month or two.

I don't want to do Slim-Fast, as it seems it is mostly sugar, canola oil, and milk products. Anyone out there have any success with a certain brand?

(Please, no responses from people selling products.)

What can I do next?

My husband and I and my mother in law have all lost weight with the meal replacement shakes from ViSalus. They are very low in sugar, 90 calories for the shake mix, and you can mix them with just about whatever you want to. They also cost less than a regular meal would cost (under $2.00). This is also something you'd need to get through an independent distributor but the cost and convenience is less than SlimFast and the taste is way better. They claim it's the shake mix that tastes like a cake mix (which I guess it does). If you want any more info about it, let me know.

what helped me no white bread goes straight to the hips, only wheat, there are some good tasting wheat breads now. cut down on sugar, use honey. put fruit on cereals. eventually ur taste buds will not notice the lack there of. many fruits and some veggies are high on calories, but these are the calories that will burn fast cause its natural. even peanut but is high caloric but it burns fast and is fiber.

my sister is tryin the every 2hour meal thing. first meal scramble eggs along with a banana, next apple with crackers, next peanut butter wheat sammich with honey. next almonds mixed with yogurt, so on and so on. drink plenty of water or with those watered flavored crystal powders.

also eat a fruit before you eat a meal. the fiber will keep u full longer.

I lost weight by replacing my lunch with a salad and fruit bowl I made at home. By salad I mean lettuce, tomato and cucumber and a few croutons. And Im not one to starve myself so I made a big salad. My husband did the same and lost weight as well. Oh and only water to drink. Lately Ive been taking a supplement CLA that I got at Spouts farmers market and its a natural supplement that aids in weight loss. Good luck.

I lost weight when I cut down my carb intake.

I quit eating bread (for the most part, I still eat low carb torillas), cut out candy, soda (unless it's 0 carb), cut out pasta (although I do still eat some in small amounts) and even cereal and milk I cut back on.

My mom who's gone Low carb, I swear all she eats is Salad and meat products. No cookies, no processed foods (tuna/hamburger helpers and such). Just Salad topped with Fresh veggies.

It's not easy, but it can be done.

I do a green smoothie mixed w/Shakeology once a day. You do have to buy Shakeology from a distributor but it's worth the enzymes and nutrients to gt you through to your next meal w/o going into starving mode. But, if you don't want to buy Shakeology, hit a natural market (Whole Foods) and buy some Hemp Powder to add to you green smoothie. You can get a lot of fiber and protein in Hemp which will also keep you lasting until your next meal. gl!

I use Cinch from Shaklee. I put it in green smoothies. Getting those 5-9 servings of veggies will definitely help.

Try replacing your morning cereal and OJ with an omelet and V8 Low Sodium juice. This easy switch will help you lose weight, wake up, have energy, and stay full unlike those silly OTC shake things. If you refuse to do any exercise, try replacing all but one serving of carbs and sugar with whole, fresh veggies. You'll lose the weight over time, though certainly not mucho rapidly. There is a caveat: if you drink soda you will not lose weight for the most part. diet soda is not only higher in sodium (which helps you retain water), it tricks your brain into thinking it's getting sugar and then doesn't deliver. It's like a bad movie with a REALLY good trailer. All you get is massive disappointment, so your brain craves sugar even MORE than it did prior to the diet soda. Regular soda is just chockfull of simple sugar, PLUS the water retention fun. Carb intake makes you crave carbs and sugar.

Easiest solution I've found is switch your diet to veggies and lean protein, excluding sodas, most carbs, and most sugar. Great part about that is, you don't have to have any willpower either - eat all you want! LOL

I wonder if any other meal replacements will have different ingredients. What others are out there? Is there a way to eat regular meals, maybe smaller portions and no junk, but mostly drop any sodas and juices you already drink? I only drink water and everytime the Dr says I should lose weight he says, "start by cutting out sodas and drink more water"..Well, duuh,, I already drink tons of water and havent had a soda in years. Just a thought. Maybe theres a way to drop those few little pounds wihtout going to a meal replacement that in the end wont be as healthy for you and wont teach you to eat normally once you lose the weight. I sure wish there was a magic way to slim down.

I've found that the Atkins bars have less sugar than the other supplement bars. It's an easy, mindless way to get protein for breakfast.
