I'm thinking of buying a manual breast pump to have when I'm not home. I have a machine at home but sometimes my milk is too full to wait til I get home. Anyone have any suggestions on any particular manual pump that they would recommend??

What can I do next?

Get the Avent Isis. I had major problems with an electric one I received as a gift not working the 2nd time I used it and was having problems with my daughter feeding when I first brought her home, so I went out and bought the Avent manual so I would always have a pump that worked when I needed it. I wound up only using it, b/c it wound up being faster than using my other one.

I have never had a manual breast pump work very well. I purchased the medela on the go small electrical pump that can run on just two batteries. It works great! I would definately suggest that. It's around $25 or $30, if I remember correctly. I have breast fed six babies for 6 years straight and I only had to buy two...and wouldn't have had to buy a second one if my husband hadn't accidently dropped the first one. So they last a good while.

I also loved my Avent manual pump. It actually worked better and faster for me than any electric breast pump did.

I really loved my Avent manual one; I think it was called the Isis manual pump. I breastfed both of my girls for 1 year & then 9 months, and it's the only pump I ever needed. It lets you control everything & I always took in on the go with me. Seriously, it was perfect!

Buy the car adaptor for your breast pump or use the battery pack that came with it. I tried using a manual pump once and it was a JOKE! What I could pump in 5-7 minutes on the electric took 20 minutes with a manual pump. I could have self-expressed as quickly. The manual pumps are a huge waste of money.

The avent isis is what I would recommend. It may be a little pricey, but I got it after I went through two other cheaper ones. Trust me, don't even boother with any cheap ones. They're horrible. My older son was sick in the hospital, so I had to pump three times a day for my baby who was being watched by my mother in law. It worked really well.

instead of buying a manual pump, I would buy a car adapter for your machine. much better than buying a manual pump.

I LOVED my avent. Easy to use, easy to clean, and effective as any electric I ever tried.

you the medela attachments for the hospital breast pump, that they give you when you have your baby at the hospital?....well those attachments connect to make a manual pump. It was all I used for 8 months of pumping when I worked because it seemed to get the milk out better than any other high dollar pump. Best thing is that it is free!

The Medela pump-in-style is great. It comes with a black carrying bag. The Medela brand is really good at mimicking the way a baby naturally eats.

I used the Avent hand pump....since you control the speed of suction, your let-down can come much quicker. I loved it! It was the only pump that worked for me.
