Our daughter is getting baptized in a couple weeks. Do we get gifts for the people that we have selected as her Godparents? What is our role as the parent of the child that is getting baptized. Do we get something for the minister, as well. Any information is greatly apprecited.

I did buy my childrens godparents a gift when they were baptized. I think it is a nice way to show appreciation for their support.

Totally off-topic, but you mentioned it in the "A little about me...":

It's against the law for your employer to lay you off or terminate you when you are on medical leave. You can sue - or threaten to sue...consult an employment law lawyer even though you don't really want to go back to work.

I didn't buy gifts for my daughters' godparents, and I didn't receive a gift when I was the godparent. I think the Baptism is about the child - not the godparents. Being asked to be a godparent is a huge honor/gift in itself.

That being said, I do make an effort to buy meaningful gifts (from my girls to their godparents) for Christmas and birthdays. I also remember to send cards for Mothers Day and Fathers Day, as well as religious holidays like Easter.

If you feel strongly about getting them a gift, maybe just get them a nice frame that they can use for pictures of your daughter.

I hope that helps. May God bless your little girl!

My daughters were baptized recently, and I did buy the godparents gifts. They were really surprised, and said that they had never heard of that before, but I am very sentimental and thought it would be nice. I bought them Willow Tree angels. I did not buy the priest anything. Congratulations and I hope this helps.
